Question #1
If Made can help us in a pennant race, why not bring him up now? Much like the Skubal criticisms, the bold question should be asked because perhaps he could help the team NOW.  Whether it’s tomorrow or Sept. 1, I think we want our best guys like Made on the team, and if that hurts us in 2031 or 2032 with new CBA rules so be it.
The Assumption is that he isn’t ready and we are holding off bringing him up to maximize his value when he does play here.

Question #2
Where will Made play in the MLB?  I know it’s SS now. But the defensive questions of if he can play MLB SS well, if he can play 2B or 3B well, and if playing regularly elsewhere are personal issues for him. Whether he plays with us this year or next, it will be interesting to see if Made pushes Pratt to 3rd or if it’s Made 2B, Turang SS, and Pratt 3B.
The Assumption is that he won’t be playing SS because Cooper is better defensively there.

Question #3
Has Made been offered a long contract extension? I just wonder how much Pratt’s playing SS now in Milwaukee is tied to his willingness to sign that deal.  And vice versa.  If Made turned down some sort of offer, how much did that affect his 2026 plans, his age notwithstanding.
The Assumption is that no offer has been given.

Question #4
Could injury or multiple infield injuries push Made up this season?
I have no idea what is assumed here. Probably no, I would guess.

****Personally, I would be open to bringing him up, much like the Nationals’ Soto was brought up in 2019. I think September is ideal and could be a shot in the arm the team needs then. If not Made, then Fischer.

Soto was brought up in 2018. Not 2019.

Unless he agrees to a contract extension, I don't see any way Made is brought up. Otherwise they won't want to start his service time clock and put him on the 40 man roster. In the event of a sustained lockout, he would lose all that development time.

Fwiw, they were reportedly considering bringing Chourio up for a cup of coffee in 2023, but opted against it as they were still working out the extension.

I do wonder if the upcoming MLB negations have a big impact… assuming reports are true that we go to only 5 years of control and eliminate the gamesmanship of service time, that is a big difference for when he hits FA.

for example, a deal now for 9 years would be buying out (most likely) 2 years of FA.  A 9 year deal by next season or whenever the new CBA is done could be 4 FA years

I’m hoping if it gets done, we end up with something like 8/120 with 2 option years at 30/30 (so would be 10/180)

I do think something like that would be ideal for both the club and player… and ideally allows both of us to avoid worrying about upcoming FA for years 3-5 of his career

Made is #1 based on potential, not current performance. Say his .824 OPS in AA translates to .650 in the majors. Doesnt help this team at all. Worse, it takes away a year and possibly 2 with the lockout from a player whose prime years are likely to be incredibly valuable.

Under the current rules…. If he came up for the final 40 games now and say mid-season next year, would that really cost us a year though?  He’d still be heading into 2028 with less than 1 year of service, meaning we’d have him for 6 more under the current rules.

then again, if he comes up and has Greta success, it could make it even harder to sign him and harder to justify starting 2027 in the minors I guess.

then again, if we make the World Series, that probably is worth losing 2 years of Made

Pratt hit .241/.735 in 58 games in Nashville this year.  I think it’s possible that elite type athletes could make adjustments and rise to the occasion.

Plus, I really don’t want to want to live in a world where we are content with our 3B  play when the #1 MLB prospect is sitting there to help us, along with another 1st round pick hitting about 40 HRS.

You're talking one guy in a small sample breaking even with his AAA stats. Historically, its more likely to be from ~.825 to ~.650 when bumping up 2 levels.

Brewers already view Ortiz and Hamilton as speedy players with great defense and young with upside, and their numbers are already in line with that and have a level of trusted experience and proven defense. If the brewers were concerned, they could have easily moved prospects to get a bat with more pop for reasonably low prospect capital.

Its debatable whether at his current age and level that Made would outperform either of those 2, thus giving him little or no value to the club right now.

..

But more to the point, Brewers built a contender very meticulously over many years despite the obvious limitations by being incredibly shrewd with money and talent.

Made as the #1 prospect has a surplus value of ~$95 million, meaning at current expectations, he will add $95M value/savings.  Most of that value comes towards the end as he gets close to prime years, say $18M and $22M for argument sake over those last 2 years.

So, the brewers could have swapped Hamilton or Ortiz and a prospect for an upgrade and taken a $5M value hit (which many fans thought was the right play) or they can risk 2 years of $40M value for an unlikely upgrade.

Thats not how this org is run, nor can it be run that way if they hope to remain contenders.

Defense aside, I think its much more realistic for a Luke Adams to play. He is putting up an .879 OPS at 3B in AAA right now
.. or maybe Jett Williams for defense

Jett was removed with an injury tonight in Nashville...

Jesús Made would be taking at-bats away from David Hamilton? 🙂🤷‍♂️

Made is not on the 40 man so there is a very small chance he will even get added.  Add in the possibility of a lockout and 40 man players not being able to play in the minors if there is a lockout there is probably a less than 0% chance Made gets added to the 40 man and gets added to the team.

Does everyone even realize that Jesus Made is only in AA.  If he was as advanced as everyone assumes he would at least be in Nashville.

It has always been my impression (MLB wide) that the bulk of elite prospects are at AA and many often skip AAA completely

My recollection is that notion got started with Albert Pujols (15 PAs at AAA), but doesn't reflect the reality that those top prospects usually still spend some time there. You have a lot of 4A guys in AAAA to be sure, but prospects aren't systematically skipping that level.

Do prospect skip AAA sometimes? Yes but often they ae not as young as Made or are dominating AA. Soto had a wRC+ of 169 at 19 when he had his rest stop in AA. Made has a 116 wRC+.

As a percentage, there are more prospects at AA but that because AAA also has depth pieces and more career minor leaguers.  AAA is higher level of competition.

Not necessarily...

That is an interesting query regarding Pratt is the SS because he took an offer before Made. Maybe. Maybe not.  I've never seen anything from Made that tells me he is better defensively than Pratt. Granted, he's a bit younger and could maybe grow into it. I see no reason to move Pratt at this time though. Made is probably going to be the bigger bat, and I'd prefer that stick at 3B, for no other reason than that is one of the traditional power positions. But I would have no issue if they acquired a 20-25 HR 3B somehow, and moved Made to 2B when Turang bolts.

Luke gets  overlooked for some reason. Probably the injuries. Sure wouldn't mind seeing a big thumper like that at 3B though, at least for look.
