Betting on the Rays to win the AL pennant is free money. They’re going to dismantle whichever hapless team wins this series.

Yep, Guards win but they had to burn 18 pitches of Williams to do so.

Combined 15 pitchers used, yikes.

First Guardians playoff series I've really paid attention to, and boy am I not impressed with Vogt's pen management.

Adjusting for era he gives Yost a run for his money in that department.

Sounds like Williams will start GM 5!  Working the crap out of your best arms seems to be the trend.  These guys arms are going to fall off.

It will be interesting to see if it works. We saw the Padres attempt and fail at the same strategy. It looked especially dumb when Musgrove went out and threw two clean innings after the series was effectively lost while Morejon was riding the pine nursing his sore arm. And they surely would have started King in G5.

If the Brewers K’d as much as the White Sox have in this game there would be a riot on the forums.  The IGT would be absolutely miserable.  Also if the Brewers only had a 2-run lead with the other team striking out as much as the Whites Sox have the IGT would also be miserable.

The IGT just isn't for everyone...

Just stating facts.

Or a few posters make it so miserable that it drives away a lot of posters from the site

Outside of the dodgers the other three teams left are all easy enough to cheer for if it came down to it.

I don’t even mind the dodgers players I just hate how they built the team

I was always a huge Freeman and Betts fan

Always one guy that derails a perfectly good thread.

Back on topic. I’m still amazed how soft the American League is. I would take the Brewers, Dodgers, Padres, Braves over any of the AL teams.

Agree to a point.

I do think the Rays get a little lost in the "The AL is bad" pattern of statistical facts. Tampa is really, really good, especially on the pitching side. It's a very Brewers approach, where no household name is going to jump out at you, but they've all gotten the job done in incredibly efficient fashion.

Plus, they've got probably the second-place MVP finisher anchoring their lineup in Caminero.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Rays won the WS (especially since they're now lined up against a Cleveland squad that's running on very little rest), and, if they're lined up across from the Brewers, I'd consider that matchup basically a toss-up (maybe 54-46 Brewers).

Of the four teams left only one ranks higher than 22nd in home runs. Two rank 27th or worse. I guess somebody forgot to tell 3/4's of the teams who made it this far you can't make it this far without being able to hit home runs.

The narrative won’t change until one of them wins the WS.

We made it this far last season….

Brewers hit more home runs than the Padres did this last series
