Brewers vs Dodgers Open Thread: News / Notes / Predictions / Miscellaneous. What's on your Mind?

I stayed up late and watched the Fox post game, not once did they mention Henderson. All they said was how great Yamamoto is. He is a really good pitcher but Henderson has our pitched Miz here over the last few weeks and there's some stat that I believe he hasn't given up more than 3 runs in any start going back to last year. That's just insane.

I’m surprised he was even on the graphic when they were showing the two pitchers for Game 2.

Logan Henderson has never given up more than 3 runs in a game in his career.

In 2026 he averaged less than one 3 ER game per month.

In his 23 career starts, only two were not quality starts. A 4.1 inning 1 ER effort last year and his first start this year where he only pitched 2 innings 2 ER. He only threw 35 pitches in that start though, so not sure the context with that start.

The defense also plays well behind him, only one unearned run in those 23 regular season starts. That or he bails out the defense every time. Either is impressive.

That's the new trend here.  Posters complaining about the negativity, posting style of others, and outright telling others how to think, act, and post.

I don't get it, but I guess some just can't handle difference of opinion...

put them on ignore and stop responding to them

And for those who would rather focus on other people's fandom rather than the game itself, it's time for some self-reflection.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I assume Fox is talking to 120 million Japanese fans and 120 million Americans who are aware of Yamamoto. Not the 120 thousand people in Waukesha who know Henderson.

I was curious so I looked:

In the last three postseasons, it appears this is only the second time the Dodgers have lost a Game 1. They also lost Game 1 against Toronto in the World Series last year.

How about this stat? Has to be a playoff record.

The Brewers bullpen has been dominant in the 2026 postseason, combining for only a 0.38 ERA (1 earned run in 28.2 innings) through six games and setting an MLB playoff record with five consecutive perfect innings in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I was at the game last night, and during his 2nd or 3rd at bat he swung and seemed to have a really awkward swing the rest of the night. He's already banged up and then must of tweaked something else because after that his ABs looked even worse.

This is kind of a depressing thought, but are we seeing a fatigued version of Miz due to the most IP in his career and still being relied on as an ace in mid-October?  Or were the last two starts just bumps in the road and we see the dominant version of him again this series, or the next?  It's certainly strange that two different teams were able to foul off a lot of his FBs when he was getting mostly whiffs in the regular season.

Thinking ahead, I believe a game 5 start would be on normal rest.  I almost wonder if the series is 3-1 at that point, do we give him two extra days of rest and his home mound for Game 6?  I want the best version of him if we're trying to slay the dragon, not the version that slips on the mound every pitch.

They had this on MLB today, I think it was 2nd place to the record for however they categorized it.   The other was in like 1900 or something though, and was only like 20 innings vs the 28 the brewers have done.   So yea, for modern baseball its a record

I've thought about this.  And I think I've mostly chalked it up to two good teams with a lot of good vet hitters taking that professional foul everything off approach moreso than any usage type thing with him.   Kind of like SD created the book on how to battle him, LA copied it. Does everyone else have the talented hitters to do it as well as those teams did, IDK.

So in a way, not great if a model has been created but also if the best you can do is just foul off and not really threaten without him walking or getting lucky errors, bloops etc then its still good results for MKE. But will get him out of games quicker

i think its more that teams are adjusting to Miz with their prep to figure out ways that other teams have gotten to him. his velo is fine.

If Gary Sanchez is ever going to get a start this postseason, it will be tomorrow...

His career numbers against Snell: 31 PAs .304/.484/1.000/1.484 5 HRs.

No one else on the Brewers with more than 1 AB against Snell has an OPS over .500 against him.

It was the 91 twins that had the 0 in 20 innings.

Maybe it's dodger opponent playoff trauma, but I was extremely pessimistic about having to play them again this year.  Now being up 2-0, I actually have hope and don't fear the AL at all.  Though in the back of my mind I have Randy Quaid from Major League yelling this is what Wisconsin teams do in the playoffs to rip your heart out!

At some point Miz will have to learn how to pitch. He has been quoted as saying that he just aims down the middle. He can get away with that for now and can probably win the World Series and another Cy without doing anything different, but eventually he’s going to need to do more than that.

Do you think Murphy would sit him down if Murphy was managing the Dodgers?  I would think so.

Absolutely Murphy would sit him,  Murf let Frelick try to work threw a injury before all star break and decided to sit him I think for 5-6 weeks.

He's 24 and he's now over 180 innings for the year. He's never thrown over 100 before as a professional. So while the tank isn't empty, yeah I think there's some fatigue there. But I agree 100% that the gameplan from SD & LA the last two games have played into it quite a bit as well. Getting more 2-3 pitch outs would sure help, but at this stage of his career he really isn't built that way.

Without having stats to back it up, it appears to me he hasn't had quite as many opportunities to get to 0-2 or 1-2 & then use a secondary pitch as he had earlier in the year. Or when he does he isn't getting it close enough to get swings.

I hope the lads have rallied around Henderson.

Stuff happens in a game, but you've gotta get on with it.

Looking forward to his next outing.

BTW, where is Harrison? Is he going to get a look in at some stage?

Same with Drohan and Patrick.

We will likely need a lefty who isn’t Romero or Ashby, someday 🤷‍♂️

Patrick is our right handed long man. I saw him loosening last game, I thought.
