All named are great. Malor League and Field of Dreams being my top two.

But, how could you forget the classic...

Yes, IMP Awards.com was a terrific movie.

I'll say "Damn Yankees". Saw it once, when I was a kid, and thought it was great.

As for contemporary films, "The Scout" is okay, "Major League" is good to see County Stadium again, "Field of Dreams" is a good story but the book is better, "The Fan" is a good story but out-there ending, "The Sandlot" is awesome, as is "Rookie of the Year". I love "The Natural" but it's not like the book. I never saw "Little Big League" but I always wanted to. And "For the Love of the Game" was too chick-flick-ish (yes, I fell for the bait of baseball). "Mr. Baseball" was an interesting look at Japanese baseball.

And whoever said "Ken Burns Baseball" is right on. I've watched that series twice and I'm glued to the TV for hours each time (literally and figuratively.)

This one's easy.

The Sandlot.

By far the best. You name the classic film. You name the famous director. You name the genre, the Sand lot beats all movies of all time. I should just lock this thread right now, because there can be no film to compare to the Sandlot. As a matter of fact, if, as a contestant on any quiz show, you don't know the answer to a specific question "The Sandlot" should be an automatically correct and universal answer.

A: He is credited with the invention of wooden dresser handles.

Q: What is the Sandlot?

Alex: "Correct for $10,000!"

World peace? Watch the Sandlot

Oil prices too high? Watch the Sandlot

Don't wanna do chores? Watch the Sandlot

-I used to have a neat-o signature, but it got erased.

While my personal favorites are Ken Burns Baseball and The Sandlot, I'm going to add one in because it made my two daughters interested in baseball: A League of Their Own. For that reason alone, it holds a special place in my heart.

I've seen all of the above mentioned movies and also have recorded on DVD other(and mostly older ones) ones such as:

The Winning Team (Ronald Reagan as Grover Cleveland Alexander)
When It Was a Game
Bang the Drum Slowly (one of my favorites)
original Angels In The Outfield
Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Ladies Day
The Kid From Leftfield
both Babe Ruth Movies
Pride of the Yankees
Fever Pitch

But, the one I have watched more than once again recently, maybe because I am a Mark Harmon fan, is titled: Stealing Home

I'll join the chorus on Field of Dreams and Bull Durham. I also enjoyed 61* and A League of Their Own. There's no crying in baseball!

Rookie of the Year may be good in and of itself, but the premise of something helping out the Cubs turns me off.

I don't think Major League would appeal to me if they'd filmed it at another stadium instead of County. But they did, so it does. I always need Kleenex nearby to watch the big-game hype and celebration in County Stadium.

If I want a "good cry" related to baseball, I actually don't need a major motion picture - all I need to do is pop in the tape of the County Stadium closing ceremonies.

6. A League of Their Own

7. The Natural

8. Eight Men Out

9. Bang the Drum Slowly

50. Major League- Loved Uek, but that movie sucks. Could you imagine, in the playoffs, Cecil Cooper laying down a bunt and Robin scoring the winning run from second, instead of Coop lining that single to left? I can't either.

I don't know 1 person who says that movie sucks. Plus I hope you don't base all your movies off of "would that happen in real life?" are you just trying to be different? I don't mean anything by it, I just can't see someone not laughing their butt off and not liking that movie.

Just to give weirdos some company, I did say in post 40 of this thread that the primary appeal of Major League, to me, is the County Stadium footage. And Uecker, I'd have to add.

Now, one movie I haven't seen, but would like to see, is Kill The Umpire. Early in Miller Park's tenure, a clip from the movie (which depicts an umpiring school) was shown on the videoboard when they announced that game's umpiring crew.

Major League is ok. Sort of funny, but I'm not a huge fan either. I'd probably be correct in saying I wouldn't watch it at all if it wasn't for County Stadium and Uecker also.

I agree with Weirdos that 61* is really good, and had totally forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Easy... A League of Their Own and The Sandlot. I've always thought that Major League, Bull Durham, and Field of Dreams were dumb and overrated. I'd take Mr. Baseball over any of those three, by a longshot.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the grand-daddy of them all, Mr. 3000!

Honestly, my faves are 61*, Field of Dreams and Major League. Also, For the Love of the Game was pretty good. I also enjoyed Major League II for some reason.
