Looks like you have to go back to 1949 to find the last time a team has beaten another team 3 times in a row by a 35-run margin.

Now that's a beatdown...

This is my point. OBP is lowered when a play is called an error. I'm

not saying its where it needs to be yet, but we should give him a break

on having a lower than ideal OBP.

I forgot that on base percentage did not include "reached on errors".

A real on base percentage should include the Fielder's Choice and Reached on Error--and even things like reaching on a K/passed ball should go in there. It might not make that much of a difference in 99% of cases, but when you are comparing two low-OBP hitters like Jason Kendall and Carlos Gomez, it could become significant.

However, if one claims that strikeouts are equal to or better than groundouts, then it could get complicated fast.

Apparently getting shut out by Livan Hernandez is equivalent to sacrificing a live chicken.

It wakes up the bats!

Bob and Cory's star(s) of the game? The offense. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

If you missed it, the replay is at 7:00 CT (6:30 Brewers Live) on FSWisconsin.

If you're looking for a different type of baseball fun, ESPN Classic is showing the Cubs-Marlins "Bartman" game at 4:00 CT today.

For some reason i'm not getting the replay.

Wow, I should sleep through brewer games more often, stupid working nights. Also, see what happens when you win game 1 of a series brewers? You win the rest of the games in the series too.
Remember what Yoda said:

Uecker - "We see some movement in the Pirates bullpen. Pitchers are jumping over the fence heading home." Awesome.
I heard that on the radio this afternoon, and laughed. Read milwaukeesportsfan's post above during the game, laughed again. Re-read the post aloud to the S.O. just now...laughed aloud, a third time.

A real on base percentage should include the Fielder's Choice and Reached on Error

If HBP counts, I think ROE should. Fielder's choice is a neutral play anyway, so there's no value to reward to anyone.

Do certain players routinely lead the league in ROE's, like certain players do on HBP"s? I've always wondered that. If there seems to be some familiarity at the top, I agree it should be added.

Wow, great game. That's all you can really say. Per the Unofficial Pirates Message board...

I'd take it a little easier if it were any other team, but it stings worse because its the Freakin' Brewers.

McCalvy reports (via Elias Sports Bureau) that today's game is the first 20-0 game in major league history. That may be the most remarkable factoid from this game.
MLB Tonight (MLB Network) had a stat line that it's the first 20-0 game since 1889. So who's right? MLB Network or MLB.com?

i think pointing to the "run differential" of 35 runs doesnt do it justice. In the 40-11 series, the Brewers had a run differential of 29, but the key stat is that they had approximately 4 times the runs of their opponent. The 35-run differential this series is great, but it pales in compares to the stat they scored 36 TIMES the Pirates 1-run.

I'm wondering what's the most runs in a series, while holding an opponent to 1 or less.

The Post-Gazette link supplied by SCBCF includes this interesting tidbit:

In this one, Pirates rookie starter Daniel McCutchen was rocked for six

runs in 32/3 innings to, remarkably, keep his ERA at exactly 14.73.
