Thought this deserved it's own thread...

With Cubs out, Maddon isn't playing his "A" lineup in St. Louis, so @Brewers

can start their ******** now: "Of course they're going to *****, and I get it, but quite frankly, there are certain things I really don't give a **** about, and that would be one of them."

A lot of their “A” players are hurt. Playing hungry younger guys might end up helping the Brewers.

He really has no reason to care. He's out of a job on Monday anyway. I liked Maddon when he was in Tampa but since then, I've really grown to dislike him the more I've watched him.

I don’t see the issue. Teams who are out do this quite often. It’s a long season and they’re beat up. It is what it is.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I like our chances better with the B team, if they're the ones who haven't lost 8 in a row. Would be a bonus if they'd just fire Maddon now and let someone fill in who won't do more harm over-managing.

So they aren’t starting the players who have lost like 8 straight and got swept at home by the Cardinals in a four game series last weekend?

Oh no, what a shame.

Good Greif, you're "A" players choked away a playoff spot. The Brewers have been the better team two years running. Who cares about anything the Cubs do.
but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

It's gonna be so annoying when all we needed was 1 cub win out of 7 games to win the division and not get it.(just saying this now to jinx it)
Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Guaranteed, if this were said by Counsell or another Manager that the Cubs needed help from, Maddon would be crying about "the integrity of the game". As Tony Dungy said "you play to win the game".

Maybe this comment will have him out of a job tomorrow morning.

Complain about the saltiness of his comments if you want, but I'm guessing some of that is because the say he had in the matter was virtually nil. With Maddon likely on his way out, I have to think the orders on sitting players came from Epstein.

I have no big problem with this.

I do think it is pretty funny how pecota picked the Cubs 3rd place and everyone went crazy at how stupid they are. Cubs ending in 3rd place.

On Sunday, when David Bote's 9th inning home run (with Nico Hoerner on base) off Martinez bounces off of Bader's glove and over the wall, and David Phelps nails down the save, handing the division to the Brewers, it will all be worth it.

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

If players are hurt then that's up to the team to figure out. However, it's been a known thing in baseball since forever that you play your best when facing somebody who has any sort of playoff implication. It is and always has been unacceptable to mess up another team's future by laying down.

Honestly it may be better for their backups to win a game or two...their key regulars are all hurt, and it would be hilarious for salty Joe to win his last 3 game series against the cards when it's probably the last thing he wants to do before getting relieved of his duties as cub manager monday.. it would just piss off everyone but brewers fans, and it would be soooooo sweet!

Much ado about nothing. Cubs have the right to play whomever they want. It’s not their job to worry about our pennant race.

No more so than it was the Tigers problem to worry about the Cubs playoff race a year when Detroit was throwing out Triple-A players in the Brewers’ final series last year. And that the Rockies might very well throw out there against us this weekend.

News to me ... and I’ve been watching baseball since the late 70s.

Bryant, Rizzo and Baez are hurt. There's no reason to play them and risk further injury that might impact games next year that will matter. If the Brewers wanted to win the division or have home field, they should've played better to the point where they didn't need to win 18 of 20 to even get to the playoffs.

That’s all fair, but the point that if the shoe was on the other foot, Maddon would be torching the Brewers is likely accurate.

Whatever. They have nothing to play for. Why risk anything by playing guys in pointless games. Sucks for the Brewers if they sweep the Rockies and the Cubs get pounded and swept but that's not Maddon's problem. And for all the talk about wanting to spoil it for the Cards and get revenge for getting swept last week, I really doubt the players care anymore.

If they couldn't win when trying for their own benefit, why would we think they'll win when trying for OUR benefit? Maddon would 100% moan if the tables were turned, but he's probably coaching his last weekend in MLB, so screw him, anyway!
