2019-09-29: Brewers (Houser) at Rockies (Hoffman) [Brewers lose, 4-3 in 13 innings]

I do get a kick out of everyone rationalizing the loss last night. You were literally one out away from being in the division lead with one freaking game left. And our reliever who has more homeruns given up than most starting pitchers did it again

It’s just frustrating. I just hope we aren’t rueing the day if we are losing 8-2 in the fifth inning Tuesday

Let’s hope a miracle happens today. I would rather have two chances to make the real playoffs than one

No, we would have been TIED for the division lead with one more game to go.

yesterday was the killer for the crew

What killed our chances for the division happened long ago. There are probably a dozen games you could point to in months other than September.

I think it's time we start to prepare for Scherzer.

Yep. Not going to get lightning to strike a 3rd time. We had our chances. Winning today likely means nothing. Let's make sure we win Tuesday.

I’m somewhat strangely at peace with the Brewers not flying to St. Louis for a division championship game. I guess if they lose the Wild Card game I’ll probably feel differently, but right now I’m on board with just getting guys healthy and ready for the Wild Card game on Tuesday.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

walks, walks, walks...

I don't know if this is accurate, and I'm guessing it is not, but it feels like we have walked more guys than any season before.

It just gets old.

The last non-Bonds, non-Coors NLer was in 1948. The AL had a winner in 1948 as well.

In the AL, there have been a bunch of other winners too, who can get them:

1948

1957

1966

1967

1979

1980

2009

2013

Cabrera

Palmiero?

Brett?

Can't blame the Cubs this weekend. They took care of business for us, but we just pulled off the choke job all on our own.

If we win on Tuesday then to me yesterday's loss goes from painful to almost meaningless. If we lose....well, let's hope we don't.

And there's probably 8 to 12 games you can point at that they shouldn't have won that they did. That pendulum swings both ways

That stretch in the middle of the season against bad teams where they couldn't win a series is going to stick out in my mind as the reason they didn't win the division. That was a disappointing stretch that couldn't be overcome by a spectacular, and equally memorable, September.

I agree. I'm not sure a game 163 would serve this team well right now.

Looks like Maddon is done in Chicago after today! Did he quit or was he canned?

Neither, his contract expired.

Creative differences.

Heard Maddon has been working on a solo record though.

Cards up by 4 now. I hope the Braves sweep them in the divisional round.

Considering the playoff history of these two teams, I doubt the Braves even win the series.

I don't know how previous playoff performsnces can dictate future series.

I'm not at peace and will be bitter about the choke job last night probably all winter, but if we do win the wild card game I actually prefer that first round matchup. Just play the top team and you only have to win three. Underdogs against anyone so I'd rather just get them and maybe get some flukey payback for 2018.

Did the team decline to offer him a contract renewal?

If the Cardinals are winning, I might as well root for a Brewers loss and get my 89 win prediction right. /blue
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
