2021-04-28: Marlins (Alcantara) at Brewers (Godley) [Brewers lose, 6-2 -- Godley’s start takes backseat to the Marty Foster show]

Much like everyone wanting to bench Garcia after his blunder, Counsell getting ejected just to get ejected would have been rather pointless. Appease some fans, maybe, but doesn't do much good outside of that.

Just saw the replay, that's one of the worst calls I've ever seen.

This Godley guy looks a bit like Doug Jones.

Godley looks gassed.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'm not saying he needs to get ejected but he needs to have the umps explain themselves. You can't make a totally bizarre call like that without justification. If he gets tossed it happens but he just gave them a free pass on their stupidity.

It’s not like he didn’t go out and talk with the ump, so he got an explanation of something... he looked pretty pissed walking back to the dugout too.

None of us know what was said immediately after the play or even during the commercial break, though. Just because Counsell wasn't out there pulling his best Lou Pinella impression doesn't mean he didn't get justification.

Without any idea of what they talked about - why would we assume that Counsell didn’t get an explanation. At least as much as the umps are ever willing to give.

Godley eventually realized that the Marlins had no intention of swinging the bat that inning.

I don't know, even excluding Godley's best seasons, since opening day 2018, he has a 1.52 WHIP, 2:1 Strikeout to walk ratio, and nearly a K per inning. Those are #5 starter stats, and he's pitching like one today. Hopefully, Anderson will be back soon.
