2021-09-22: Cardinals (Mikolas) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers lose, 10-2]

Honestly would have been fine if Anderson had gone 3 innings and given up 4 or 5. This is something else, though. To have such low expectations and still be disappointed.

Still think the offense has something in them. Brewers win 9-7 :)

We still totally unconcerned about playing these guys in the postseason? That's the concensus?

"We" is being used quite loosely here...

I 100% want no part of the Cardinals in the post season.

None.

I'm not even listening to this garbage any more. No reason to pitch Anderson in this game unless you're looking to find the bottom of the Abyss. I hope we have hit bottom and that there's no way but up from the bottom of this cesspool.

Ok. I'm still listening. But, you know...

Yes, still highly unlikely they play each other and glad if they do.

Counsell has to take the blame on this one. There was absolutely no reason to throw Anderson out there against this team tonight. Now we will get to see Ashby after the game is over. Good decision. Brewers appear to be getting punked at the high school lunch room.

Brewers aren't being "punked" at all this is the result of a team that has a lot less to play for right now. No reason at all to try to line up your stud pitchers to face the Cardinals at this point. This team needs to basically lose out in order to lose the division, and if they do that, that means they were playing bad enough baseball where it wasn't going to matter if they were starting Anderson twice in that stretch or not.

Anderson has been serviceable enough this year where you don't expect him to give up 6 runs in 1 and 2/3rds innings. Obviously if they expected that they wouldn't have started him. Best case you get 4 solid innings out of him and are in the game, worst case is what happened tonight. Either way, your studs are still getting their rest and ready for the real games in 2 weeks.

Absolutely not. Do not want to play them period. Brewers are not in a good place to see red across the field in the playoffs.

I mean, its baseball....an 83 win crap cardinal team won a world series.

Ask yourself this - Would you rather face the dodgers or cards in the nlcs? I know my answer, and its not the team that could throw scherzer, Buehler, and Urias with Kershaw all 7 games of a series

Its enough of this team has nothing to play for. We have clinched nothing besides the right to lose to the Dodgers in a wild card game if we lose out and these jerks from st louis keep winning.

At what point do even the most optimistic fans think that the Brewers are playing themselves into a dicey situation?

Are they suddenly going to start hitting and sweep the Mets this weekend? Or are the Cubs going to rise up and take 2 or 3 from the Cardinals? Or will the Brewers go into St. Louis and win a game?

Is Counsell going to stay with the 6 man rotation into next week because “it has worked all year”?

I said last week that I didn’t want to see the Brewers go into that last week without having the division wrapped up. If they can’t beat Wainwright tomorrow there’s a pretty good chance they won’t be clinching at home.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I mean we are going to run out of games soon and they are letting the cardinals get in their heads. Well at least mine. I mean it’s obviously still safe but the lead down to 5.5 by end of day Saturday would put us in a panic and isn’t that far away.

The brewers have a freaking lot to play for and it’s staring them right in the face after they get their rear ends swept tomorrow.

That could easily the last 6 games of the season. The way this garbage is going

Which leaves them to try to salvage something against the Mets. If they suck it up against the Mets this has all time disaster written all over it

Well you already pitched two of them and they lost both games. I'm not sure what you mean but if you can't beat them with Peralta and Woodruff you sure ain't beating them with Anderson. The Cards are not the Brewers they can hit lefties.

It's SO hard to have an easy clinch in baseball. You are nearly always into the last week no matter what.

We will sweat if we don't clinch at home, but the reason the Brewers are 99 percent to win the division is because a 4-game sweep by the 2nd place STILL renders awfully narrow math.

I have no worries about losing the division, but I think anyone saying this isn't at all concerning is putting on a bit of a show of bravado. The 2nd place Cardinals danced on our field in 2011 and this is certainly at least causing flashbacks. These guys know they can beat us. Yeah, we may not see each other again, but we might.

It's also going to be interesting that the Brewers end with 3 in LA. So it could very well be the Brewers that give the Cards SF and not the Dodgers, thus potentially leaving both of them in the field.

Of course I'm of the position that we have a lot of great teams to beat and it doesn't matter who they are. But this isn't concerning at all? At ALL? I don't buy it.

Is Adames hurt again and if not why is he not in the lineup.

Same reason why Burnes was pulled after 8 innings of a no hitter. It's the same reason why Anderson started. And Its the same way theyve treated all guys post IL stint. Bigger picture in mind. Again, this game means a lot less for us. The division is as close to wrapped up as it can be. Brewers would have to basically lose out while the Cardinals win out - both are unlikely.

Brewers aren't playing for their lives right now no matter how bad the last week has felt. This team is positioning to hit their stride in 2 weeks, not tonight or tomorrow or this weekend.
