As long as we're making fun of the rest of the division:

(I understand the distinction the reporter is making, but it's not a great sign when you need sports reporters to give cover to your team's presumptive star player.  Of course, it's also not a great sign when your starting quarterback has less than 50 net passing yards in a full 60-minute NFL game.)

Detroit is 3 for 3 on 4th down conversions and only in the first minute of the second quarter and a 14-0 lead. This offense is going to be exciting. Nice to see there's a team not intimidated by playing in Minnesota.

You ever watch football (or any sport for that matter) and see some change over the years wondering how it was ever done the way it used to be?

NFL Punting: How did it take so long to realize shanking a punt out of bounds to try to pin a team deep was EVER a good idea.

Lions were snapping football with lead the entire 4th quarter with 10-12 seconds on play clock and game clock running. Now they missed FG with 1:30 left and Vikings with no timeouts,

Edit: and Vikes are going to win, Lions still the Lions

The Pro Bowl has now gone the way of the Third-Place Game and the College Bowl.

Haven't watched in years.

I think the last real memory I have is of Sean Taylor absolutely lighting a punter up...and I'm pretty sure I didn't watch that live.

I believe Sean Taylor passed away when Favre was still a Packer(after a 3 pick game where he could have had 2-3 more picks).

So...yeah, I won't be losing any sleep over this one. I do still watch the College Bowls.

Don't look now, but the Jaguars just might be the best team in the AFC South.

Not exactly a high hurdle to clear....but it certainly looks like Trevor Lawrence took a big jump in his development as an NFL QB at the start of year 2.

Trevor Lawrence was way better last year than his numbers indicate. He was moving around well and generally making all the right reads.

It's starting to look like Fields may not be the guy in Chicago, though. Granted, he's got absolutely zero talent around him.

Fields was never going to be good in Chicago.  I stated when he was drafted he wouldn’t be all that good.  He is not a passing QB and wasn’t all that great at it at Ohio State.  He is more of a running QB.  There is talent around him just not enough Montgomery, Herbert and Mooney are good but that is it.  Kmet stepped up last year a bit but not so much this year so far.  The oline is still a work in progress which is not helping.

Can't believe that the NFL hasn't moved the Tampa Bay game yet. Even if the weather is out by Sunday there's no way they should be using available resources to put on a football game.

I admire that they seem to be waiting until there is some post-storm assessment vs jumping the gun on what might happen.  The hurricane will be long gone in 24 hours so there will be plenty of time to assess needs for Sunday.  There will be residual showers and storms after the storm passes.

Now, if they don't have a plan B, C, D etc well worked out at this time then I would be concerned.

What resources would they be taking on Sunday and what should those resources be doing instead?

These teams who draft these QBs early and then don't build OLs around him...it's baffling.

Justin Fields has enormous talent, but he's got NO shot with the OL and lack of receivers on that team. Brady, Rodgers, they're all average QBs at best when they don't have protection. It's just too difficult to play that position.

Zach Wilson, same thing. Though at least the Jets have invested in that OL with Becton, Vera-Tucker. The Bears have Teven Jenkins who had...some health issues that derailed last season, but he hasn't been very good this year and then what? Starting a 5th round pick?

I honestly believe the Packers backup's on the OL would be better. Yosh/Tom/Hanson/Rhyan/Newman/Jones-Give me those 6 over Braxton Jones/Whiteahir/Patrick/Jenkins/Borom.

Jones looks like a nice prospect...a guy you'd want to develop. Whitehair is a nice player and then...nothing.

For the Bears, their issues on the offensive personnel side of the ball stem back to Trubisky being a bum and unloading a massive haul of draft capital and then $$ in order to acquire Mack and build around their defense.  The Bears just haven't had enough draft picks to shore up what was always a questionable O-line.  Teams who routinely have solid offensive lines seem to do a good job at drafting and developing their own players.  The Bears have not been that type of organization ever since they've been using draft capital to chase after quarterbacks (Cutler, Trubisky, Fields) and premium defensive players who instantly command a huge contract (Mack).

Fields has talent but needs polish - and that doesn't happen easily when your line is leaky and you have a thin skill position group.

The NFL's commitment to disabling brain injuries remains unblemished.

Tua is the latest example of the league's malpractice.  There will surely be others.

I hope three things:

  1. Tua fully and quickly recovers.
  2. Tua retires immediately.
  3. Tua goes scorched earth on his franchise and the league office.  It is long past time, and something needs to change.

I do still watch the College Bowls.

College Bowl as in, until the mid-60's the defending NFL champion would play the College All-Stars in August.

My wife is set to run the Twin Cities Marathon this Sunday morning.  The start line is front of the stadium.  A football game being re-located there would have made things a mess.  Then again, how many would show up?

LOL...ok, well, that was not the first thing that came to my mind and was a bit obscure, but certainly makes more sense.

1-Same

2-Not sure he needs to do that, but...he definitely needs a LONG time off. If he played any other position(other than K/P) I'd agree, but he CAN play that position without taking as many big shots moving forward. He should probably stay home for the next 6 weeks and then re-evaluate. But...he won't. He'll almost certainly be back under center for the Dolphins in the near future. 2 weeks, maybe 3.

3-Tua is culpable. He's not some babe in the woods. These players have grown up being educated about concussions. You're no longer soft for coming out of the game. They're smart.

Still, this whole thing is to protect the players against themselves. They're educated...and yet they'll fight every step to try and limit concussions. The whining and mocking of those protective helmets in camp was...comical. They're trying to protect Jason Kelce from being the next Mike Webster and...he's got a problem with it.

They could make helmets far more protective, but it just hasn't been worth it yet.
