Here is the one for the Brewers:

Agreed...but I also don't really know the finer points of where they could have or should have built Miller Park or how or where SD is located with respect to their downtown.

Petco is located adjacent to the Gaslamp Quarter, the biggest dining/drinking area of San Diego and just lovely. It's also very close to the beach. They had to tear down a substantial portion of an arts district to build Petco, which was quite controversial at the time.

"Downtown San Diego" is barely a thing; it's where people work (and not far from Petco but also not a place where people hang out, that's the Gaslamp). Petco is somewhat downtown adjacent but that's not what makes its location great, that's the Gaslamp.

I think the Brewers were really unlucky with the timing of building MP/AmFam.  At the time the big driver was luxury boxes and overall attendance.  Huge TV money (local and National) and MLB.TV (what is the internet?) were so far in the distance that they didn't have a clue about maximizing the location.  Where they put it made perfect sense at the time and 10ish years later having ancillary developments around the park to feed the Baseball revenue started to become a "thang".

It was a bridge time, for sure... but Milwaukee isn't as ideal for a downtown setting as many parks. Sure, there are parts of downtown or downtown adjacent that could have been leveled for a park but the 43/94/794 really split up the city in unfortunate ways. Unless they were able to cram a park into the absurd footprint a la Target Field, getting a park close to an enviable downtown spot without tearing down historical neighborhoods is hard.

Kansas City is kinda the same way. If not for Kauffman being so great, KC would have to face some hard questions about how to place a park in a miniscule downtown area surrounded by stupid freeways.

I'll save everyone here a rant on how destructive American freeways were to downtown cities, all of which was completely intentional and short-sighted.

Another epic meltdown for Josh Hader last night against the Giants … he lost a three-run lead in the ninth inning at home & was removed in a 4-4 game with a blown save

San Diego picked him up (unfortunately) with a three run walk off … but I will repeat what I said when the trade took place … great job, Stearns!

San Diego is 2-5 since the trade deadline

Hader has pitched in three games … he’s given up three earned runs in 2 & 2/3 innings - one save, one blown save where he had to be removed (in a game they won)

I think people who preferred having the Brewers build a park close to downtown don’t appreciate how important tailgating is to a lot of fans. Stuffing a ballpark downtown with an adjacent parking structure would have done nothing to improve attendance.

A lot of people who come from outside the immediate Milwaukee area to go to a game would not be attracted by having to drive into the downtown area and find a place to park just to attend a game.

People who want to attend a game with the family are not interested in a drinking and dining area nearby. To tell the truth, I’m not interested in that either. I just want to go to a game and then come home.

As for San Diego, the only time I was in the city we spent most of the day visiting the zoo and the Air and Space Museum in that park. On the way out of town we wanted to see the ballpark and I was surprised that we had to navigate through a large tent city of homeless people within a block or so of the stadium. It didn’t leave me with the best impression.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Would probably root for them if Machado weren't on the team. Really don't want that jerkstore to see any success.

Yeah if machado gets DFA’d soon count me in on the padres bandwagon.  If not, would rather see the braves come out of the NL again.

I'm not a fan of Machado but otherwise I think the Padres are definitely worth rooting for. I see them as similar to the Brewers in lack of postseason success. Obviously as long as the Brewers are still in it none of that would matter.

As with any team I might temporarily support the expiration date is pretty short.

He doesn't have a save for them yet, I think the game you're thinking of he got the win rather than a save because he entered the game when it was tied.

Barring injury the Padres lineup is going to run roughshod over everyone.

Probably the toughest lineup in the MLB right now.

Well they haven't done it in the first 10 days with their new lineup. And they are 16 games out of first place in their division. The Dodgers, who did almost nothing at the deadline, have a 10 game winning streak. If the Brewers were to do that we'd get free burgers at George Webb.

Hahaha, All fun in 11-9 win or losses! Then your pitching staffs arms are like wet noodles and down goes the Ship!  See you on the outskirts watching the playoffs-

Well the Padres will be without Tatis jr. for the playoffs as he has been suspended for 80-games for failing a PED test.

Oof...that is BRUTAL. That's about as tough as it gets. Being a Pads fan, you go from the high of getting Hader, Bell and Soto, Tatis Jr coming back...

Hader has a blow up again and then...Tatis pops. Just rough.

We have a real chance to take a playoff spot from the Padres tbh...

Yeah, I suppose. I haven't really even started to think about the WC yet. I still think we're the best team in the Division, Counsell will get this team rolling in Craigtember(god that's corny...but I'm good with it) and I think we win the division and end up the #3 seed.

If WE'RE healthy and playing well, I'm less concerned with the other teams.

But you're obviously objectively right. I just have faith in this organization and this team. I have no doubt the playoff race will play into the schadenfreude many Brewers fans feel(particularly those on Twitter who were getting it from SD fans).

Yeah. I guess I don't really care now if it's the division or the wild card with the expanded playoffs. Before, the division would guarantee you a spot in the division series, whereas now you're looking at the wild card round unless you have a top two record which the Mets and Dodgers pretty much have a stranglehold on.

Main advantage to winning the division at this point would be getting all three games at AmFam in the first round.

Tatis...what a moron.

He obviously didn't get the playbook on how to properly handle this situation.

#1 - Get all lawyer'ed up

#2 - Find some completely innocent nobody to scapegoat

#3 - Parade around telling everyone how innocent you are

I think he just sunk his Hall of Fame opportunities. What a tool.

What a team. Tatis is a juicer. Machado is the biggest DB in baseball and Soto is a disrespectful crotch grabber.
