Frelick is #68 on Baseball America’s top 100. Probably will shoot on up the list when their new rankings come out this offseason.

He's in the 40s on MLB.com. So, he'll probably be on at least 2 lists.

Tough to be blah when in first place. The selling began on July 31. It was loud and clear. And Hader still somehow outperformed our scrap heap in deadline trade returns, which managed to lead the league in blown saves over the last two months with some gift money to Rosenthal to celebrate the Cards winning the division..

Josh Hader: 7.31 ERA with SD. 16 IP.

Taylor Rogers 5.48 ERA with MKE, 23 IP.

Hader did fine in the playoffs, but if he performed for us like he performed for SD, it would have made us worse. That's the truth.

Sure...that's another good point. That's why I just don't see the it's either opening day or the trade deadline for Frelick.

I don't think we can afford to really play around. We're putting so many chips in the Burnes/Woodruff/Adames basket, you can't go most of the season without what very well could be our best hitter in terms of BA and OBP(*COULD be).

Opening day or sometime in June (after super 2) is a more likely dichotomy. Though if he is on two top 100 lists, I think he'll be up on OD or within a couple of weeks.

Gave up multiple runs three times in August, including a 6ER outing which balooned his ErA… didn’t give up a earned run the last month of season. Blew two saves and a loss in August. Saved 7 and a win… gave up 4 hits and 2 walks in last 11 outings, including 13 Ks.
Hader gets us in the playoffs in 2023, IMO.

That's absurd, IMO. He makes us a win worse.

Because he sucked.

It's pretty much a guarantee Frelick will be on at least two top 100 lists.  Turang,..not so much.

This is ?% truth

Rogers was bad too but Milwaukee would have been worse with Hader

I’m glad he was traded

I don’t miss him or regret the decision

I hope the prospects we received flourish in 2023

I'll amplify that  a bit, everyone lost the trade last year in terms of competitiveness But at least we still have a chance at getting some value from Ruiz and Gasser.

Josh Hader is still pitching for San Diego.  His last 12 outings on the season were 11.1IP 2ER. 14ks.

Postseason 5gms 5.1IP 0ER 10ks.

San Diego likely can get a better headliner in trade than what Brewers did because we sold low and they have a history to say they fixed him and sell high. Ruiz had a poor DoWL and I'm feeling he's a 1 yr minor league wonder soon to be a utility bust when in the majors. Gasser has some promise but did display a stretch for his AAA with a lot of walks. That's a lot of low ceiling for trading essentially the #1 RP in baseball the last 4 seasons. Padres likely trade him at deadline if he's bad and a reason they're not in the playoff picture, or they offer him a QO after another top notch season and get that pick(if he doesn't accept)

Hader just may provide as much or more WAR for SD in 2023 than what the Brewers get from the two prospects by the end of their Brewer career.

That sure is a lot of maybe's and might's you seem to be counting on

That's always a possibility, but it's also a possibility that one or both of the prospects turn into starting MLB players and provide a lot of value to the Brewers.

That is why while it's fun to discuss, we shouldn't get too emotional about a trade at the time it happens. The net outcome of the trade won't be known for years.

One thing to not overlook about Jesse Winker, he's hit well against the Brewers chief rival for the division as well as the other teams in the NL Central, and not just at GABP but their home stadiums too.

Career vs. St. Louis: .351/.423/.600 with 11 homeruns in 208 PAs.

Career vs. Pittsburgh: .333/.419/.590 with 10 homeruns in 180 PAs

Career vs. Chicago: .238/.363/.400

Career OPS of 1.108 at Busch Stadium

Careeer OPS of .938 at Great American Ball Park.

Career OPS of .868 at Wrigley Field

Career OPS of .808 at PNC Park.

Yeah...that really is and it kinda went off the rails for me.

I do think we probably get into the playoffs with Hader and that using WAR for a reliever over less than 2 months is not really reflective of their actual value. Hader bounced back, he was dominant for them down the stretch, you could pencil him into the 9th and he'd shut down the other team.

You're basically looking at a couple blowups(Which we had as well). If you put Hader back into the pen with Williams in the 8th and Box/Cousins and whoever in the 7th, I think we do win more than 87 games.

I also don't really care at this point and I think there's a lot of effort to minimize Gasser and Ruiz. Gasser had a stretch where he struggled with control in AAA? Yeah...most pitching prospects do.

I don't think the Padres can say they "fixed" Hader. You take a guy who had a Burnes like 2020 and turn him around and you "fixed" him. Someone who had a couple of blowup's for the Brewers had just that...a couple of blowups.

I rarely click on player interviews because they usually tell you nothing.  I'm glad Winker is excited to go to Milwaukee and he said all the right things, but wow, he did not really answer any of the questions.  They spoke more about basketball than baseball.

Yeah, then perfect clueless Harold Reynolds at the end, “how crazy were the fans during that 18 inning game!”

Winker, “I wasn’t there, I was having surgery on my knee and getting a second opinion on my neck.”

Kolten Wong was released by the Mariners a month ago.

He signed with the Dodgers on August 9th.

And in true Dodgers fashion, he homered in his first plate appearance with the Dodgers.
