Three-way trade with A's, Braves; Brewers get William Contreras

As someone pointed out, the Braves had to throw in their #1 and #6 prospects plus. Yeah if we had been willing to give up that much more we could have gotten him.

I personally prefer Contreras, who has much more team control and is less proven but has All Star upside. (Literally already was an All Star lol)

Great points didn't know it was that steep on the Braves side, appreciate the insight!

So essentially were acquired Contreras and Gasser for Hader..... I will take that any day!!!!

Hated losing Josh but we still have Devin and now we have a stud behind the plate!

So, insert Winker and Contreras into the middle of the Brewers order, huh...I'll drink to that!

If only we could snag a BIG BAT 3B...  I don't think we are done this off-season.  I think we just might be getting a 3B out of the blue just like we got our catcher.  We'll probably over=pay to even things out though.

In terms of surplus value from the Baseball Trade Values site, the A's are currently at -39.7 million, the Braves are at +6.5 million and the Brewers are at +33.2 million.  Adames probably has greater value than that, and with the bulk of the return going to Oakland...they would likely be more interested in prospects.  Ashby could be a possibility, but my guess would be Frelick plus two more prospects.  Would be great to see the meltdown if one of those guys were Gasser to go along with Ruiz.

I was banging the Danny Jansen drum quite a bit over the past couple weeks, but that's because I didn't think it was possible to turn Ruiz into Contreras. Contreras is the better player and such a huge upgrade for this team.

I’m really scared to believe this. But maybe we’re throwing in some major cash.

Give me Brian Anderson or Brandon Drury and I'll be super happy!

Adding Winker and Contreras is gonna go a long way to improving our offense... I love this team!

Still have Burnes, Woody and Adames... We're right there for division title with Cardinals now.

the Hader deal made us discount Ruiz's true worth.

Anderson and Drury are not the big bats I am hoping for.  Those guys are just guys, especially Anderson, and I'm not sure what to think about Drury to be honest.  Had a great season last year, but where did that come from?

it's not just Brewer fans. No one can believe this is all the Brewers gave up.

If it is just Ruiz, then it's not only a major miss by the Baseball Trade Values site, but also every "prospect reporter" that puts together organizational lists.  To make up what would figure to be nearly 40 million dollars in surplus value that the Brewers would receive in this deal, Ruiz would have to rank as a top 50 prospect on the top 100 lists.  I haven't seen him valued like that anywhere, not even a bottom end top 100, much less a top 50 ranked.

I prefer Justin Turner. Hopefully we can get to him before the Marlins do as it's rumored they've made him an offer.

This feels like the Braves and A’s were so fixated on Sean Murphy that the Brewers just kind of threw out some lopsided ideas to fill in the gaps…and neither of the other teams noticed or cared, as long as it made the Murphy part work..  Awesome.
