If Wiemer was the RF today not Anderson, the score would be 2-1 Brewers still. Anderson had 3 really bad plays that inning.

Missed a catchable ball at the wall, should have called off Miller on the ball that dropped for a hit, lost one in the sun last night. Four misplays in two days.

Edit: And then to follow that up by hitting into a double play the very next inning. Nice work, Brian. I know you hit a homer earlier in the game.

See my edit.

Earlier in the game I paused the telecast for about 5 minutes because I got a phone call. Then I resumed it and forgot that I was behind the live action. I came here to comment on Yelich’s catch and the first ball off the wall (which he obviously had no chance to catch) was the only one I had seen. I can’t get too excited about that one because when a ball bounces off concrete you’d have to give up on it pretty early to play it cleanly off the wall.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Lots of hard contact against Rea

When the outfielders are being asked to make running catches up against the wall, that isn’t a good sign.

Looks like the Brewers HR or nothing, shut down the offense after a couple of early runs attack is back on display.

I should have known that saying anything critical about the Cardinals would trigger an outburst from them.

Never again. They are the clear favorites to win the division.

Maybe, maybe not.

Especially on that first one the way the ball rocketed off the concrete I’m not sure Wiemer would have given up on it soon enough to play it cleanly.

Wiemer has had some issues too on balls hit directly at him or directly over his head and might not have caught the next one.

Announcers: "Brewers haven't hit their full stride yet". Since the beginning of June last year they are what 88-91 or something like that. I'd say they are pretty much in full stride and this is what they are.

One hit in the last 7 innings.

It’s been a treacherous downhill climb, but the Brewers finally made it to .500.

I am predicting a dramatic comeback win late in this game!

There are always dramatics in Minnesota-Milwaukee games in Minnesota!

If you are what your record says you are, the Brewers have been exceptionally mediocre for more than a full season’s worth of games.

At least I got to witness the Cardinals bullpen with a blown save today although the game isn't over yet so they could still win. The best ERA on their active roster is 3.91 and they only have 2 players with an ERA below 4 on the active roster. Crazy bad.

I don't know about it being 2-1 had Wiemer been in RF-----it's possible----but looking at his skillset & the work he's done in the minors he's their best RF & it isn't close. I'm hoping Tapia finds himself in CF so Joey can slide over & maybe get in a little more of a comfort zone, but I doubt they'll do that.

Not saying this will happen, because things are not at all pretty. But here's a reminder.

The 2022 Phillies had a record of 87-75 and finished 3rd in the NL  East
And yet they....
Won NL Wild Card Series (2-0) over St. Louis Cardinals
Won NL Division Series (3-1) over Atlanta Braves
Won NL Championship Series (4-1) over San Diego Padres
Before losing the World Series to Houston in 6 games

I'm not giving up yet; it's only June.

The 2022 Phillies were a lot better than the spineless bunch we have

The main reason for optimism is that the Reds, Pirates, and Cubs are just as mediocre as us. The Cardinals are abysmal.

Back?  It has been on display for over a week most of the time.  :-/

Yeah, there is so little difference between winning the division and winning that last WC spot now. The Brewers are totally fine standings wise. Their schedule is easier over these last 94 than it has been. And the division is very bad. That's the good news.

The bad news is, they're a really middling baseball team right now. Until Woodruff gets back, the rotation is what? A little above average? Maybe? The bullpen has been good enough, but beyond Williams, do we have faith in anyone? The offense is a big weak point. Unless Tellez or Willy or Urias or all three really pick it up, I have a hard time seeing this crew stringing together a bunch of wins.

23 games to the All-Star Break, with 13 against the Pirates, Reds, and Cubs. I think the Brewers need to hit about 15-8 for me to feel pretty good about things by mid-July. Anything less than 13-10 will be disappointing. This is the part of the schedule where they need to make hay, I think. The 3 against Arizona are the only 3 against a team over .500 in that stretch. Plus, they come out of the break with 6 against the Phillies and Reds. So, let's say the next 29 games will tell us something about how much we should hope for playoff baseball.

2022 Phillies had quite a bit more offensive talent. Flip side, the 2023 Brewers are in a division that's eminently winnable even if you have warts. So no, it's way too early to pack it in.

Perhaps a valid opinion.  But all you need to do is get to the dance.

Normally, looking at the sked I'd agree. But the reality is they could go a game over--or under--in that stretch & still be something like a game out. In that case, you don't sell off but you don't mortgage the future for help either, save for a lottery ticket or two for a bullpen arm (our acquisition du jour for a long time now).

The Reds seem to be bringing up an all star from the minors weekly.  I'll make a prediction now that the Reds win the division by a game.  We'll be left wishing we had sold on Burnes, but didn't pull the trigger because we had visions of making the playoffs, even though we'd probably be knocked out after the first round.  We simply can't hang with the big dogs, even with a healthy Woodruff.

*sigh*
