Ya, i don't see Pratt signing, but you never know, right? Maybe just trying to save money to use elsewhere by drafting a guy who won’t sign? Or is that a bad strategy? Seems like it happens, tho.

If you don’t sign someone you lose the pick and the slot money associated to that pick.

Wow 1 more head turner with Pratt. As others have mentioned they basically always sign them in the first 10 rounds so they must have a plan to get it done. There are no guarantees but I would definitely bet on it.

also, interesting theme. High school and 3B is really stealing the show.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Only 3 games this past season (injured?), started all three, 13.2 IP, 7 H, 6 BB, 18 K.  There's something there.

Pitched in CCL in 2022, gave up a lot of hits but 9.3 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 23.1 IP.

I read that Woodward has had bone cancer (twice) & then Tommy John

While I sympathize with him - simply can't imagine what he's been through - this seems to be an awkward selection ... especially this high

Might sign Boeve and Woodward underslot to free up money for Pratt

I believe they will also sign Wilken for less than his $4M slot

IF we sign Pratt, this draft easily becomes an "A" for me. That might be end up being the pick of the draft for the Brewers when all is said and done.

Pratt selection might help shed some light on this..

Yeah, those two must be major under-slot agreements and must have an agreement with Knoth that isn't over-slot.

I've got the over/under for Boeve at $800K (on a $1.55M slot) and $1M total under-slot between Boeve and Woodward.  Another $725K on senior signs for rounds 7-10 and $530K in overage gives them at least $2.3M for Pratt and Bitonti.

Overall though this is my favorite draft in some time. I liked the day 1 picks, I liked that they added some high school talent, I loved that they went hard on some bat first players, I liked that they managed to get 5 players that are reasonably high end prospects, with 1 or 2 additional wild cards.

Unless the rules have changed again, they don't free up any money by having a non-signee; their pool is reduced.
Which makes me think they have a tentative agreement. So, unless there was a failure to communicate, he's probably getting signed.

Based on Keith Law's Top 100 Draft Prospects, Milwaukee has already drafted 5 of those players ...

17 - Wilken
40 - Pratt
49 - Bitonti
60 - Knoth
78 - Boeve

If they sign all of these players, it will be a successful - Grade A - draft!

He basically said “I hope I get drafted as soon as possible and sign”. Not sure if he will go for absolute minimum but definitely will be cheap.

He's a senior sign

Yeah, the only "strategy" that would be involved in making an unsignable early pick is if the strategy was to be cheap.

As noted in the linked article, he (Yoho) actually has 3 years of eligibility left, and just agreed to transfer to Arkansas.
