All it took was one game to ruin the pretzel logic that went into thinking this team could have gone 6-0 this week

so let’s get it going tomorrow to try to hit our realistic ceiling commensurate to the talent and ability we have as a team and win 3 out of the next 5

i think we are better off rooting against our rivals than rooting for the brewers this week.    It could get painful.

and it was a good day for that

What was Frelick swinging at?  That wasn't even close to the plate was he swinging at an imaginary batter in the other box?

He's pressing at the plate. Might be a good idea to give him an off-day tomorrow against Kershaw.

I think he might already lead the league in lazy pop outs.

Yeah I don't think Frelick is going to be a good MLB regular unless he starts to turn on inside FB's at a better rate.  He is looking more like Juan Pierre with a better hit tool.

Yeah no. Frelick already has already tied Pierre's single season high in HRs. The league is adjusting to him. He'll have to adjust back. The guy has hit everywhere he's been.

So, they hit 3 or 4 grounders that find grass. It happens. Betts dunks one into LF that can't be caught because it isn't hit well enough. That happens too. But ALL in one inning? I'd love to get my hands on the dead chicken that Dave Roberts was waving around in the 6th. The undertone of all that, of course, is we would've lost anyway. Monasterio has been a Godsend but the bad throw just opened everything up.

Offensively, maybe they lost the battle but won the war, looking at Santana. Barreling up balls from both sides of the plate is pretty impressive. I'd put Frelick in front of him, after he sits vs the lefty tomorrow.

The Dodgers and Braves are in a class unto themselves in the NL.

As they were last year...and it was the Pads and Phillies in the NLCS.

Even when we played them in '18, they were better in both facets of the game. #1 in runs, #1 in ERA.

I'll roll the dice in a playoff series with Burnes, Woody, Peralta, Miley and then piecing together the back end of a BP. We've got a punchers chance.

This was uncharacteristically bad defense, but...sooo many teams have won in the playoffs vs teams that were obviously MUCH better. We'll see. Uribe gives us another weapon. Lauer, maybe...IDK, any number of hitters. Black could be one or whoever.

Not waving the white flag yet.

Edit-Forgot about Ashby. IF-IF he comes back...that could be another multi-inning reliever who can throw in the upper 90s with some NASTY stuff(if he's actually all the way back).

I agree would like a 3-3 trip though they usually shock us by playing well vs better teams

Really not this year against the best of the better teams.

Against the 4 other NL teams currently in the playoff positions that they have played (Braves, Dodgers, Phillies, Giants) they are a combined 6-14. They haven’t faced the Marlins yet.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Just to add to your point above:

Crew are 32-34 against teams that have are .500 or better right now.  Most of those wins have come against the Reds with 10.

17-6 against Pittsburg and Cincinnati: 48-49 against everyone else.

It’s the major leagues, a win is a win, but the Brewers are running out of games against the Pirates and Reds.

Brewers just can’t compete with these guys. Sure they might be able to steal a game but there’s no way they’re winning a series. No way.

Because the Brewers #5 starter, who is unlikely to start a game in the playoffs, gave up two extra base hits to the Dodgers, they can't compete?

Just way to much of a talent/production gap.

Haven't they been saying that about the Dodgers for a decade?  And the Dodgers have won one World Series in that last decade during a 60-game season.
