Matt Stairs gave hope to dudes with dad bods that they, too, could realize their MLB dreams ...

what's funny is that I thought Stairs was pretty much done after his year with the Brewers at age 34, but he kicked around MLB for 10 more years (and had some very productive seasons) after his 1-year stint in Milwaukee.

Haha that’s so dope that you legit thought this was Matt Stairs. And who could blame you? Same facial hair and overall look, Vogt’s just about 65 to 70 pounds lighter :)

Yep ... being too quick on my Google search doomed me. Not many solid Brewers pics of Stairs out there ... although he did have a good single season (.827 OPS in 315 ABs) for the team.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The Brewers certainly had a habit of cycling through once very good, but now over-the-hill catchers in the 90s and 2000s.

80's too...

Now wait a minute… Joe Oliver came to the Brewers after missing the ‘94 season with an injury and coming off the strike and delayed start of the 95 season. He certainly wasn’t washed up because he had a career year with the Brewers then played six more seasons, where he produced exactly at his career marks. He just wasn’t ever a dynamic player to begin with.

In the 80s Ted Simmons and BJ Surhoff caught the vast majority of Brewers’ games. A hall of famer and a former #1 overall pick.

Surhoff/Nilsson/Oliver/Matheny covers the bulk of the games in the 90s.

I just want to see the Brewers bring back the elastic-band snap-waist pants!
