Important series, win it and they further distance themselves from the Phillies and Cubs. Keep an eye on the Cubs but also nice to stay ahead and win tie breakers with these wild card teams just in case.

Pretty much the entire Phillies’ lineup is white hot. Bryce Harper in particular is on an absolute tear homering in three straight games.

Freddy is going to have his work cut out for him.

Might want to win today. A loss and two Cubs wins shrinks the lead to a game an a half.

I want to win every day! 😉

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The Phils are a better team than the Cubs … I’ve been concerned about this series for several weeks

We saw Burnes & Woody pitch against Chicago & unfortunately neither won - despite pitching very well

Peralta MUST win tonight - not as confident in Rea & Miley against this Philly lineup

Hopefully, we get through the weekend & build momentum in the next few weeks against weaker teams

Not sure I could handle the Cubs winning the NL Central

Cubs up 4-1 late

Now 6-1 in the ninth.

Still waiting for evidence that the Cubs pitching isn’t going to hold up.

Face it: We have a tough row to hoe.  Cubs are hot; Phillies are hot; we seem to have reverted to our customary punchless offense.

But it's baseball.  Anything can happen.  Thank goodness for the 9-game winning streak or we'd really be up the creek. Let's win and shut up my whining!

Honestly, I think winning the Central would be the pinnacle of our season.  Our offense doesn't seem likely to let us make a run in the playoffs.  But still better to win the Div than get swallowed in one bite as a WC.

A dismal outlook?  I know. May I please be totally wrong!

What would make it worse is that, unless the Brewers really collapse, the Cubs would be clinching the division at AFF, probably with about half of the crowd cheering them on.

I’m kind of glad I will be in Europe that weekend.

So, we're assuming the Cubs are winning the division now?

At least BruisedCrew moved on from the Cardinals winning the division.

Congratulations to the Cubs for having three well pitched games in a row. 2 being with the wind blowing in at Wrigley and the other being against the Reds who were one of the worst hitting teams in the MLB in August with an 80 wRC+. Just give them the division now I say.

The Cubs have a really tough schedule the next couple of weeks. The Brewers will have an easier slate after this weekend. Famous last words of course, but you know what I mean.

And I know winning the division matters and a whole lot of local fans want that home postseason series, but, from a competitive standpoint, it doesn't matter all that much to me. Honestly, I'd rather play @Philly than home against the Cubs for a host of reasons, which means staying in Wild Card position matters a lot.

As long as the Cardinals are not mathematically eliminated, they are a threat to take the division from us.

Please read my post a little more carefully.

The words “would be” are important in making it clear that this is something that probably  “would” happen IF the Cubs win the division, not something that I said “will happen”.

Neither I nor edfunderburk said that we are assuming that the Cubs are winning the division.

Here's to hoping Fastball Freddy has one of his "on" nights and is in total control right from the get go.

This Brewers team is funny, they win 9 straight over solid competition, but they got swept at home by the As earlier this year.  You just never know which version of them you're going to see.  Here's to hoping it's the team that got us within striking distance of some free George Webb burgers.

I recall in the Cubs series there was some talk on the surprising lines making us dogs in them.  Well today is one that works the other way around, I expected this to be one of those "on paper" they should lose games that I think they win.   Turns out on paper they actually have MKE as slight favorite, basically a coinflip.

Both good pitchers, theirs a bit more consistent/reliable/history etc, Philly on fire right now.  However, when I checked that I did forget the game was in MKE, thought it was on road.   That's probably the 'evening' out factor in it.
