Game One:
- Donaldson or Monasterio at 3B?
- Canha or Tellez at DH?
- Frelick, Mitchell or Taylor in CF?

Donaldson will definitely be at 3b, I don't know that he should...but I expect he will. I expect Tellez, Canha, Frelick in some combination of CF/RF/DH. I don't think Mitchell makes the roster. If it was my decision, I think I'd roll Canha at DH with Frelick and Taylor in the outfield.

created a separate thread for Woodruff news

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Might have to add two pitchers to the roster to make up for that.

Final Wild Card Roster Prediction:

Position Players: Contreras, Caratini, Santana, Turang, Adames, Donaldson, Monasterio, Yelich, Frelick, Taylor, Canha, Mitchell, Perkins, Tellez, Miller (15)

Pitchers: Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Williams, Payamps, Milner, Uribe, Peguero, Megill, Wilson, Miley (11)

You can insert Rea for Woodruff now. Also think this means they're going to go 14 position players and 12 position players. So, probably Chafin gets a spot as the second lefty option. He actually hasn't been that bad lately.

Here is the Wild Card round roster.

I'd rather have Mitchell over Winker.  I can justify Weimer being added for Defence.  But I am at a loss for Winker.

Winker doesn't surprise me, as he is likely to give you a professional AB as a potential pinch hitter.

Owen Miller, on the other hand, makes no sense to me as his magic pixie dust has been absent sine Memorial Day

I'd rather have a good at bat from Mitchell than a professional one from Winker, with all due respect.

They must think Winker would do a better job a PH than Tellez at this point.

Owen Miller should not touch a bat. He's there as a capable infielder that you hope you don't use...but he's there just in case. At least that's the best justification I can come up with.

Not necessarily. I think both guys are PH options, as for Winker over Mitchell...I think we're good on defense with Frelick, Wiemer, Taylor, Perkins for 2 spots. Wiemer is at least a RH option whereas most of our bench options are left handed.

Edit - I realize now Tellez didn't make the roster. That's quite surprising to me...

If Tellez isnt one of the teams top 15 hitters, why was he still playing regular season games?

The sample size is extremely small but that has never stopped Counsell before. Winker is on the roster so he can be in the lineup tomorrow vs Zac Gallen whom he's reached base on 3 out of 4 ABs. The Brewers as a team have really ugly numbers against him. Mitchell is one of the few who also had good ABs vs Gallen so it must be the hesitancy to slide with him is all I can come up with.

Unfortunately, mitchell strikes out 40% + of the time, so a good AB from him is less likely..

So not only is Winker on the roster but he is going to start a playoff game?

I've never wanted to be wrong more in my life!!

Looks like you and I are going to just reply to each other about this so I'll stop here.

I really, really hope you are right and I am wrong! Let's hit some bombs Winker!

As long as we don't 4D chess our way into another Mark Kotsay in CF moment.

All good, we obviously disagree on Winker, who without doubt has been bad this year. Nevertheless, I trust him more than Mitchell who has been out basically all year

I wouldn't guarantee it but yeah I'd bet on Winker being the DH in the lineup tomorrow

I get it with Winker but the real pessimism should be how bad the whole team is vs Gallen. They need to squeeze out any decent matchup they can get against him. Just hope Winker has one good game in him. It might be his only start of the postseason regardless of advancement.
