Happy the Cardinal rumors were false. Always like Woody the best out of the three for no reason. Glad he's back-ish.

Woodruff won't really help at all in 2024 but bringing him back could be a real boost to 2025. Plus it's overall just fun to keep him in a Brewers uniform

Hooray for Big WOO!

Yeah, there is little chance he pitches in 2024, but hopefully can fully recover for 2025.  I'm glad for Brandon so he can use the Brewer resources to heal.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Glad to hear this. I hated how things "ended" with his injury, so I'm glad the Brewers are going to pay him something this year and work with him through his rehab, and hopefully he can be his old self again in '25.

I actually wonder if for this season Woodruff helps out of the bullpen late in the year. That way they don't have to waste a month in the minors building up his innings. If he comes back near Sept 1 he could slide into a bullpen spot

Gotta love it for a guy who just really cares about the game, the organization, and the people within. He is definitely one of the good Ones. You love to see it.

Even if he doesn't recover, it shows the rest of the squad the Brewer's loyalty for player health.

One of my all time favorites so I am really happy.  But you have to feel cautious about the capsule injury in his shoulder.  As far as I know there isn’t a great track record for pitchers with that and he will be 32 in 2025.

That'd be awesome. I know nothing about the type of injury he has. I assume the Brewers do, and them being willing to sign this deal gives me hope. To me, coming back next year and being his old self would be great. Being able to help out the '24 squad would be even better.

Holding my breath here.

I love Woody as much as the next guy, but man, I hope there's not much guaranteed money.

Winner winner on this post.

If its $1-$5 million guaranteed, then fine. Small gamble he is a decent starter or at least decent reliever in late 2024 and/or 2025.

If its more than $5 million guaranteed I think its a bit of a wild gamble just because the guy is a homegrown Brewer. Pretty nasty injury he is coming back from and I wont be surprised if he is not near the same dude when he returns.

Maybe he can be DH/PH in '24, he's got that power stroke against lefties.

Absolutely nothing not to like about this.

I had long held the suspicion that no one was signing Woodruff because they didn't want him to take up a 40-man spot. I'm pretty sure the 60-day IL is open again so he can go directly onto that.

We don't know that yet.  I hope you're right.  As always, it comes down to the numbers.

It's basically a one-year contract and it's really hard for one of those to be truly bad.

True.

As long as it's not the crazy numbers that were being discussed here in November.

There's really no way this is a contract that is so expensive that it will impact us in a significant way

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.
