And tha'ts ignoring pitching where we've made a killing dumpster diving others castoffs

Chris Hook kinda flies under the radar, but man oh man he & the work done in the pitching lab deserves a ton of credit.

Yup.  Was talking about this at the game Monday. Definitely their biggest thing the last 7ish years that has led to their success and overachievement.   They churn over these pitchers every year and keep on producing.   All the injuries this year and you throw guys like Wilson, Tobias and others out there and get your 3-4 innings somehow, and bullpen takes care of it.   Of course this year without the top line starters we all have a 'how long can this continue' fear but here we are 1/3 of the way and its still humming

Must be looking down to count his money...

When he signed with the Cubs my first hot take was wondering how he was going to navigate dealing with a local beat-writer press that actually would hold his feet to the fire when things weren't going great - since that was never a concern while managing the Brewers in Milwaukee...he's barely 2 months into his first regular season in Chicago and fan sentiment is already turned pretty stale on him.

Especially considering the outrage that came along with Derek Johnson leaving for Cincy.

Just add him to the list of guys whose departure hasn't even come close to dooming the Brewers yet.

Johnson, Stearns, Hader, Counsell, Burnes...

I think BA is so much better than Levering at filling the down time and small talk moments of a game, but man Levering absolutely schooled BA on the Gary Sanchez HR call. His radio call was fantastic. Levering has gotten so much better at the hype moments and I think all of the national games from BA has hurt his hype calls.

Thx for sharing that. Fantastic call.

When on TV I feel Levering cranks up the excuse machine too much when things aren't going well. But that isn't some big rarity with home team announcers.

And if Bellinger doesn't perfectly time his jump, the Brewers sweep.

Just stay out in front and then pick up that starter in July.

How much worse would this team be without Ortiz?

Would you rather have Burnes every 5-6 days, or Ortiz?

I would rather have Ortiz 4 out of 6 games (Murphy).

Great win, and even on the radio this team is just a lot of fun to listen to. Watched the condensed game today and that Frelick slide was fantastic.

It is still very strange to hear Counsell talk about a new challenge as if winning wild cards is a big deal. He did a good job but by no means did he finish the job. He's farther away than he was before.

Marlins have already said that Luzardo is fair game!

Good team win.

Nice outing from Rea.   Good to see that he received a nice hand when he came out of the game.  I thought he was one of the unsung heroes from last season and he is doing it again this season.  Gives the team a chance to win 9 times out of 10.  That's all you can ask for.

Nice baserunning today.  Speed is a beautiful thing to see.  Hard to defend against and doesn't go into a slump.

Think I would of given Jackson a shot instead of going with Miller,  especially if you weren't thinking of sacrificing the runners over in the 8th.  Just had a gut feeling that Jackson would have come up with a hit to drive in a run  but Sanchez answered the call to put the team ahead.

Have to take care of business this weekend against the White Sox.

Ditto on the baserunning. It takes more than just speed; it's a skill. And this team has many guys who are good at it. Frelick scoring on the Ortiz double was gorgeous.

I think Murphy might've been holding Chourio to hit for Frelick if a L vs L came up there. My biggest problem was Miller not bunting.
