Brewers (Peralta) vs Diamondbacks (Rodriguez): 9/13/24, 8:40pm

Brewers have a slog of a last month schedule. The Cubs, on the other hand, other than 3 games in Philly (when the Phillies may not have anything to play for), probably have the easiest schedule in the majors. That said, according to Fangraphs, the Cubs have a roughly 1.2% chance of sneaking into the playoffs.

We have got to start getting more than four hits if we want to win some of these upcoming games

these ten games aren’t against teams worrying more about booking their offseason vacations then playing games

this whole bauers/hoskins thing is just aggravating.    I wish haase/sanchez could play a decent first base

Someone posted the Phillies schedule and they have a lot of games against the Mets.   I would like to see the Mets show up

that being said this weekend will tell if the e cubs have any chance at all and if we have any chance at a bye

braves dodgers

brewers arizona

Phillies Mets

Mets and braves sweeping their series would change the game

I know Bryan Hudson was sent down to get velo back and kind of reduce his innings, but is there an arbitration control component to it as well (probably some 40/28 man roster manipulation as well). It sounded like he was at 92 last night which is where he was at the start of the year. It just feels really weird that our best reliever is in AAA and has been effective (stat wise) before the demotion.

He was not at 92. He touched 92 but his FB averaged 90.2 on the night.

I am a simple man. All I ask is this:

1. Brewers sweep AZ

2. Mets sweep Phillies

3. Braves sweep LAD

4. Colorado puts a dent in the Cubs. I'm not even asking for a sweep!

We wake up on Monday, Brewers magic number is in the neighborhood of Joey Ortiz or Bill Hall.

Brewers tied with LA for second wild card, one game behind Phillies, with three to play against them. 4 Wild card hopefuls all within a game of each other.

Kinda cool that those first six teams are facing off this weekend. Could be significant, or a whole lot of nothing. Only NL team with a playoff pulse that isn't on this list is San Diego.

From the Milwaukee Journal:

Hudson, who has a 1.73 earned run average as arguably the team’s most valuable reliever this season in 62 ⅓ innings.

The last part of that sentence, though, is a critical piece of the roster decision.

Since becoming a reliever in 2019, Hudson’s previous career-high innings thrown in 64 ⅓ last season. This year, including his outings during a rehab assignment in early August, Hudson has already thrown 65 ⅓. The big southpaw’s velocity has been in decline as the workload has increased, too; his average fastball was 91.8 mph through the end of May, but in August was 90.2 mph and in Monday’s outing dipped to 89.3 mph.

But Hudson had still been pitching well of late in terms of production. He hadn't allowed a hit over his last four outings and had allowed only three hits total in 11 ⅔ innings since coming back from an oblique injury that shelved him for two weeks in late July.

“Bryan’s been a huge part of this. I believe he was an all-star and deserved to be an all-star, and I believe that he’s been a huge, integral part of this,” Murphy said. “But (the decision was made) because he has options and because we haven’t liked everything we’ve seen about how the ball’s coming out and how he’s responding and that type of thing. When you just look at the actual stuff that’s going on, we hope that we can get him a little refresher and rest to get it back to where he was earlier in the season.

“We felt like because we’ve got so much depth on the pitching staff, that this would be a good time to get him a refresher, get his mechanics (right) and be a refresher so he can come back as strong as he wants.”

Murphy indicated some time off will be part of Hudson’s plan with Nashville, as well as scheduling his outings in advance.

Freddy is going to have his work cut out for him tonight against this lineup.

I should probably bench him on my 2 fantasy teams...  Seemed to work ok last time.

I'm just here reporting for Duty.

1) Let's score more runs than the D-Backs

2) Let's pitch better. Let's hit more better.

3) Let's gain ground on the Division Crown and the first round Bye

Easy peazy. And so it is.

What, you don't want us to defend better than them?😁

The DBacks have been kind of slithering under the radar this season because they got off to a terrible start and have been in the Dodgers shadow all season.

At the end of May they were 25-32, 10 games behind the Dodgers and 9 games worse than the Brewers. Since then they are 57-32, 3 games better than anyone else in MLB. They have scored 543 runs in those games, an average of 6.1 runs per game, more than enough to offset giving up 4.8 runs per game.

By comparison, since May 31 the Brewers have gone 50-39, averaging 4.5 RPG while allowing 3.8.

So, on paper anyway, the challenge for the Brewers against this team will be to contain the high powered offense while finding a way to score some runs themselves, something that hasn’t been coming easy.

FWIW, I think they could've easily had 3 or 4 more hits each of the last two nights. Swinging the bats a little better from what I've seen. Of course you're facing a LHP with mediocre numbers tonite, so flip a coin.

If they're going to make a real run for a bye, might want to win tonight with the Dodgers and Phillies both losing.

I was just going to post this.   If the brewers want to make a move.   It’s right now.     Hit.   Hit.  Hit

time for Hoskins to earn some money

Your right, Brian Anderson did not say that in his pregame comments.
