Would have easily taken Josh Bell at $6M.... Looks like we're in for yet another boring ass winter.

Possibly but I wouldn't count out seeing some interesting moves yet.

January 26th - Sign Lorenzo Cain to a 5 year, $80M contract

2019
January 14th - Sign Yasmani Grandal to a 1 year, $18.250M contract (incl. mutual buyout)
February 19th - Sign Mike Moustakas to a 1 year, $10M contract (incl. mutual option)

2020
March 6th - Sign Christian Yelich to a 7 year, $188.5M contract extension

2021
February 5th - Sign Kolten Wong to a 2 year, $18M contract
March 4th - Sign Jackie Bradley, Jr to a 2 year, $24M contract w/ player option on 2nd year

2023
January 4th - Sign Wade Miley to a 1 year, $4.5M contract

I'm not concerned if they don't make any more moves at all. It might be nice to have a little more certainty/experience on the infield but there's enough there to think we could manage. The overall depth everywhere else offensively, defensively and pitching is good. It makes for a boring off season but when has the most exciting team in the off season ever won during the season? If we are limited payroll wise I'd rather they save some for in season trades that use it all before we know where we'll need help due to injuries or ineffectiveness.

Now that I said that, watch them sign Roki Sasak or something equally crazy.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Sounds like the Dodgers are signing Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim (not to be confused with free agent infielder and former Padre Ha-Seong Kim) to a three year deal.

Let the Gavin Lux trade speculation to the Brewers begin again for the umpteenth time.

Did I read its only 3 years for 12 mil total or am I missing something?   Is there rules that limit what he can be paid?      Apologies if this has been clarified some other time this postseason.  But at that price I'd have been all for topping it, but I assume some rules apply to him so he wasn't a normal FA bid.

No special rules as far as I know. Probably just wanted to play for a team on the coast more than anything.

Right, certainly a huge advantage there.  Who knows of course but MKE really needs another IF and even bumping that to 3/20 is so cheap for MLB.  And sure there is the variable on how the bat plays but 3/12 I can't believe someone else wouldn't double that and take the gamble with the money being thrown around for avg players these days. Maybe they did and he still picked LAD though.

There are some pretty huge red flags with Hye-seong Kim. Massive GB rates. Massive BABIP. A good MLB comp is probably Nicky Lopez who outside of a 104 wRC+ in 2022 hasn't topped 77 wRC+ in another season. Brewers already have enough light power, speed/glove guys on the 40-man. Did we really need or even want another?

Or he wanted to play for a winner as basically stated below:

An official close to Hyeseong Kim told reporters on Friday that the Angels ultimately had a higher bid than the Dodgers, but other factors influenced the free agent infielder’s decision.
Kim cited the fact that the Dodgers won the World Series this past season and have many star players including Shohei Ohtani on their roster as reasons for choosing the Dodgers over their crosstown rivals. If only the Angels had a player like Ohtani. Expect the 25-year-old to thrive in whatever role the Dodgers choose to deploy him in.

It's so gross seeing the same exact teams tied to every big name free agent player.

It's deflating.

Waived Diego Cartaya a top 20 prospect at Catcher in 2023. Absolutely knew that ranking was inflated.

Speaking of the Padres, it sounds like the flight for control after Seidler’s death has gotten ugly. Only a matter of time until the payroll dump happens…

After the Kim signing, I thought about Lux as a 2B target with Ortiz at 3B and Turang at SS but he isn’t the kind of hitter to make that defensive adjustment for. It’s like Lorde says, that kind of Lux just ain’t for us

Lux return was Mike Sirota (2024 3rd round speed/contact CF from Northeastern) and the 37th pick in the 2025 draft, so Dodgers pretty much picking up two assets with long runways before 40 Man consideration.

Dodgers also drafted Sirota in the 16th round of the 2021 draft out of a CT high school and he didn’t sign so they’ve been on him for awhile.

Seems like a lot for a failed 27 year old prospect I wouldn’t be happy if the brewers traded last years third and basically a first

How is Lux a failed prospect? He's not an an All Star but a solid regular starter who because of time missed may end up being very cheap in arbitration.
