I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Who knows if he'll improve, which he'll need to do to be a 26-man consideration. But it HAS to feel good to get out of that franchise for the first time, no?

He's just got to feel amazing.

And Civale MJST be happy not having to pitch from the bullpen while also under the pressure of needing to...win...or just wanting to win....for a franchise that values...winning.  Although if he finishes out the year well as a starter...losing for the White Sox.... he'll prolly have a nice vacay in Cabo this winter. with his representation... ...

Dang, looking at the path Vaughn took... He was kind of done a little dirty by the White Sox? He was in A+ ball, then COVID happened, then he debuted with the big league club.. He skipped 2 full levels in the minors..

Whether that is good or bad who knows. Just unique.

Things don’t look as bad under the hood as they do on the surface. He’s making consistent hard contact. The whiff and walk numbers point to a guy who would benefit from being more selective (easier said than done)

The yellow flag is the bat speed. That’s a poor number for a guy who needs to hit for power to have value because he’s a negative defensively and on the bases

Ricky Vaughn has all 3 options left according to Fangrapks...likely viewed as a possible poor man's replacement for Hoskins next year...in his 5th year....if he is sent to AAA we have him for 2026/2027.

Ricky Vaughn? I like having a guy nicknamed "Wild Thing" on the team.

lol I though of the White Sox yesterday when thinking of where he could fit.  Though I thought it would be for someone like Robert.  Right team wrong player.

I too was not expecting a 1B who hits like Ortiz.  Nothing would have been better.

Vaughn, Ortiz

I'm wondering how he is going to see the field.  You can't sit Hoskins.  You aren't going to take Yelich out of the DH spot.  What happens to Bauers?

I'm confused... and the Pope is Ca... I mean he is a White Sox fan...

Dude swings fine. It's his "take" that needs a lot of work.

Which is weird when looking at his college stats.

Between his sophomore and junior seasons he walked 104 times and struck out only 51 times.  His OBP over three seasons at Cal was .495 with a batting average of .374; his "take" added .120 to his BA.  Even during his first half-season of pro ball he walked 30 times to 38 K's.

He hit 38 HRs combined those last two seasons at Cal - a high number, but not a huge number.  He wasn't a big swing, all-or-nothing type of hitter at all.

Nashville is lovely this time of year (actually it's probably very hot)

It wouldn’t be a brewers trade if people didn’t whine about it……lol

Civale had little value and Brewers got a guy with options that they can try and fix……if they do great…….if not he gets non tendered.

Civale has more value than Vaughn. The more I dig the worse Vaughn looks.

100% Salary Dump.

Go Crew. Add another below 500 OPS batter. Team has to easily lead the league with below .600 OPS batters.

Nah just kidding, only because Vaughn can bat below 600 OPS next year. Team is set for 1st base.

If we're lucky this trade will be just as disastrous as the Priester trade.

You are over valuing Civale.  With his contract he didn’t have much value.  The Brewers did better than I thought they would.  I wouldn’t have thought they would have had to bring back a bad contract in order for a trade to work.  Which with the added cash in the trade looks to be what his worth was.

I think people are whining because Civale, as unimpressive as he is, is still likely considered a legitimate, back-of-the-rotation starter for a "B-division" major league team.

Vaughn has played 4+ MLB seasons and has been a -0.4 bWAR player and -1.8 fWAR player.  He can't play anywhere in the field.  Lifetime -12 DRS at 1B, -10 DRS in LF, -6 DRS in RF.  Somehow, despite being a sub-replacement level player, he is earning 5.85 million this season through arbitration.

It's a next year move, bauers and hoskins are gone, 1B is a blackhole

Our plan next year for 1B for an already bad offense is one of the worst players from the worst team in the AL?

Yikes.

We could have traded him for a low rated prospect ( who likely would never see the majors) and thrown in even more money.

i get the sense people would have been happier if we would have just released him.

He had no value and we got a former top.prospect who has been mostly a bust …….if they find something that they can fix great……if not he’s gone.

I’m not sure what people expected……..but again the worse trades are viewed here the better they usually turn out.

im not expecting anything but since we gave up nothing I certainly am not going to whine about the return.
