Brewers at Nationals; Sunday, August 3 @ 12:35 p.m.: Logan Henderson (1.71 ERA, 3.05 FIP) vs. Brad Lord (3.27 ERA, 3.47 FIP)

Butterfly effect. Two men on, there is no guarantee the same pitch to Turang  would have happened. If Siegler hadn’t been picked off, Turang may have grounded into a double play. Or Murphy may have had him bunt. 3-0 is pretty cool.

If Siegler is considered a better option than Durbin against RHP, that makes it all the more unconscionable that the Brewers couldn’t find a better utility IF at the deadline.

I think it’s possible that that the Cubs grabbed Castro in part to keep the Brewers from getting him.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I'm not defending Siegler, because that was an awful play, but you can't say it should be 4-0, we have no idea how the inning would have played out with runners at 1st and 2nd.  It's the butterfly effect, the Nationals likely pitch everyone differently with the extra baserunner, it's more than likely Turang doesn't hit the HR if Siegler's on 2nd.

Exactly lol. Ortiz probably bunts them to 2nd and 3rd and your approach changes with two on and one out compared to runner at first with two outs

What was Seigler’s baserunning mistake? I didn’t see it, Gameday just said he was out at second on a single which seemed a little befuddling to me.

Rounded second, they threw behind him and got him diving back

Seigler feels very similar to Dunn … trying to find a solid LH bat who can play multiple positions

Seigler is not considered a better option than Durbin, I'm sure just a day off for Durbin.

A better base running choice than Jazz Chisholm yesterday but still a bad decision.

Completely agree.
It’s a common fallacy to assume that everything that happens after a certain event would have gone exactly the same way if the original event had gone differently.

One of the worst is when an umpire makes a bad or questionable ball or strike call. It should be obvious that a pitcher is likely to throw a different pitch in a different location based on the count.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

It’s amazing how some professional baseball players act like they’ve never played baseball before

He shouldn’t need a day off two days in a row.

I think that makes 3 times in a row that Siegler has started against a RH starter.

It’s looking more like a straight platoon

I agree.  When others have made baserunning mistakes like that, in the doghouse, they would be.

It won't be if Seigler doesn't start hitting soon.  I don't think he will continue the platoon either. But we are also playing a sucky Nationals team this is the best time to let Seigler tryout. JMHO

Seigler not good at all, I wouldn't be surprised if he is in Nashville tomorrow. Oops I meant by our next home stand. ATL next.

I don’t care how sucky the opponent is. This is not a time for tryouts.

They have a race car circling the track with a Home Run flag after dingers at the Speedway Classic.

Neatest hone run celebration since Bernie’s slide.
