Miller's last outing was three up three down with two strikeouts on Saturday.

His horrible outing was two appearances ago on August 13th.

His first two outings with the Brewers went seven up, six down with the only batter reaching via dropped third strike.

He pitched 3.2 IP over the eight days between 0809 and 0816.

I was away for a little while on Saturday and missed his inning.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

He’s coming off an injury so im sure they don’t want to overwork him.   Yesterday was just a debacle because meyers should have just finished that game.   He was doing fine.     When you are up 7-0 you use Anderson and save miller for the next game?

Yeah, and Miller's blowup appearance was the second day of usage in a row. I think they put him in in low-leverage there (we were up 6-0 against Pittsburgh) to see how he a responded to two days in a row. I imagine the results there may be less Murph to think twice about putting in while up a run in the ninth.

I personally am very okay with this as it looks like tomorrow is a wind blowing in day rather than more of a cross wind like today was.

That's not true on the 0 rest part. Miller hasn't pitched on 0 days rest yet as a Brewer.

I don’t know how the weather was at 4 to know if it would have made a difference but what is the point of the split doubleheader? Why have guys sit around for 3 hours first before G2 rather than just taking 30 minutes and jumping back into it?

I'd guess it's a money thing? Split doubleheader is two games of gate revenue?

You're right. My bad. Maybe not using him back-to-back is a big consideration.

Yeah seems like they are really easing him in in terms of both role and usage which is fine by me especially with the big lead in both the division and the race for the bye. Having him right by the playoffs is the priority.

Get game one again and then watch their will melt for the prospect of game 2 vs. Big Woo. A 2-0 start to this series would be quite the pressure cooker.

Was pondering the optimal approach here. I like the idea of trying to steal a win with Patrick, especially if it looks like a wind blowing in day.

Megill has had two days off, so he will throw tomorrow pretty much no matter what. Miller too, I'd bet. And another day for Ashby helps.

We should be in decent shape. I would sign up for a split right now, obviously, but hopefully we can get the first and put the pressure on then in game 2.

Odd aspect of a rain out in a double header… Cubs used their extra pitcher in game 1.  Now they get to call up a different arm tomorrow.  Brewers did not use their extra pitcher in game 1 so it will be the same pitcher tomorrow.  Cubs catch a slight break in being able to swap out a fresh arm tomorrow.

What is the deal with Shelby Miller?

I know he was horrible in his last outing but as far as I know he is still on the roster. But it seems like he wasn’t a candidate to help out yesterday.

Are they afraid to use him or saving him for something.

He threw a 1-2-3 inning Saturday. I’m sure you’ll see him tomorrow.

I'm happy Patrick can get some more MLB innings, he deserves it

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.
