Can Yelich win it?

No.

This team might disappoint, but they're not boring! Though... if they're going to lose, I'd rather it be boring.

Too many guys in and out of the lineup day to day. Play the best players and let them settle in and get consistent ab. Pulling people late for worse people is also brutal.

Good news: Adames is doing his best to help us out in SF.

Bad news: We couldn't score against a guy trying for a 3-inning save in his big-league debut.

This was definitely a disappointing series. If the Giants can pull off the sweep, that will make it feel less so.

I give a lot of credit to the back-end of the bullpen, both yesterday and today. They kept us in the game AND bought a little rest for the high-leverage arms. This stretch is really just crazy hard on a pitching staff, so that does matter quite a bit.

6 real tough ones coming up. Hopefully we can turn it around a little because the 15 after that are theoretically more friendly.

The bullpen (plus a couple of great catches) gave us a chance to overcome Q's awful start.  But our plan b bats were not good enough.

Of course when you lose the inane comments by announcers grate on you a little more. My favorite today was after the softly hit single off Quintana in the 3rd to make it 6-2.

Schroeder: "What are you gonna do?"

Oh, I dunno, Bill. Maybe not give a good hitting team six free baserunners in less than three innings??

So many times over the years Quintana gets outs on some of the pitches he threw today. But he gets them because he's 0-2, 1-2, 2-2. Or by getting ahead in the count he eventually gets early swings & quick outs. Neither happened today--it's like after the back-to-back hits to open the 2nd his whole world changed. He never settled in, and Crismatt kinda did, That made the difference.

Vaughn is back in his White Sox mode. 5 for his last 31 with only 3 RBIs. Milwaukee has to get him hot somehow.

He's played a lot of baseball since coming over here. I think getting Hoskins back & the resulting rest opportunities will be a good thing. Vaughn hit in some bad luck at times in recent games but certainly has cooled.

Are we still having fun?

You would not have been overjoyed with a 6 game lead and the best record in baseball in April?

Yes.    But they definitely aren’t the team that built up the lead.   No doubt.   These next 6 games will tell

this schedule was ********.

I guess that's another way of saying that they aren't playing as well as they were when they won fourteen games in a row. Which was inevitable.

Really appreciate the Giants doing us a solid.

After last weekend I remember mentioning how I'm fine with Frisco playing well against us as long as they continued when they got back home. I guess it happened.

This is why I'm not worried about the division. The Cubs have been completely blah against this supposed soft schedule since the ASB. The sample is big enough to know they will lose to these teams. They don't beat them consistently enough to pick up the ground unless we absolutely urinate ourselves and go like 7-21.

It makes no sense but I am ok with our struggles. I had anxiety about staying hot all the way until October. Get the rough patch out now.

Cubs also used Keller and Palencia in the loss. Their pen had to cover a lot yesterday too. And now they head to Coors. Hopefully the Rockies can grab one, at least.

If Chi wins say 2/3 in Denver but they're all 10-8 type games that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
