I am on Team Rhys, getting 2-3 starts per week. Vaughn had historic July and below average August.

If nothing else, never doubt a slugger in a contract year.

I felt the Brewers needed to go .500 in the 6 games between the Blue Jays and Phillies.  Good start to win the first series, now we basically just can’t get swept by the Phillies.  No matter what happens today, that off day has to be looking mighty nice tomorrow.

 It’s hard for me to think of two players who are more similar than Hoskins and Vaughn. Trying to guess which of them will get hot or produce on a given day would be like flipping a coin.

One feature in the NL playoff race that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention is how the Mets sweep of the Phillies combined with a bad week for the Reds has opened up the Mets cushion in the race for the final wild card spot  

Just a week ago, the Reds were within a half a game of the Mets and now they are four games back and in a clump with the Giants, Cardinals, and D backs, hoping to make a move if the Mets falter.

So who gets added to the roster today? Hoskins feels like a safe bet. Is Yoho the other? 
 

I assume Gasser will be up at some point, but he pitched 5 innings on Friday. Chad Patrick pitches Saturday. Unless September call ups don’t need to meet the minimum optional assignment requirement and they opt for McGee (I’m not sure about that rule).

The Brewers are currently 5.5 up on the Phillies for the 1 seed.  The Brewers swept the Phillies in Philadelphia so they need to just win one game this series to get the tiebreaker.

I know MLB wants holiday games, but some teams got the day off. Did Milwaukee really have to be one of the teams going today at the end of an absolutely brutal stretch? The bizarre mid-series day off tomorrow almost feels like a middle finger. Just start this thing on the Tuesday.

Hah. I definitely don’t have the Packers or Fantasy on my mind.

I can’t overstate how challenging it can be for me at times to post on this ad bloated site when using my iPad. It often takes a minute or two after I dictate or type something for the words to actually appear. And frequently the page will crash and reset, erasing what I had already entered. So, when I finish something I hit submit right away before checking for typos like that.

Boy, consider this a non-biased recommendation to be a caretaker. For a site I am on daily, pretty much year-round, I haven’t even thought about an ad popping up for a while. And Brock seems like a good guy.

MLB needs to address their scheduling issues leaguewide.  The gradual start to the regular season with extra off days in April makes sense - but then the rainouts early sap up sparser off days in late summer when teams are already grinding.  I get the want to play on labor day, its a traditional baseball gameday.

 

I think they need to start the regular season a week earlier, and then sprinkle in an extra week of days off from July-september.

This was originally supposed to be a scheduled day off for the Brewers, but the Brewers requested to play today because a holiday game is going to have a much larger attendance than a Tuesday night game.

It’s not the ads themselves, it’s the fact that the site frequently crashes or does not take typing or dictation. I don’t have this issue with any other sites, including message boards. 

I suspect that having 3 or 4 ads on the site atthe same time has something to do with the performance. 
 

I understand that I can avoid the ads by paying for a subscription, as you apparently have. But, I don’t feel like doing that.

Bullpen should be alright today, if Miz goes five. It would be nice to not have to use Uribe for a third game in four days, though.

9 W - 9 L (with a +4 run differential) so far on the Dreaded Stretch.

We had an 8.0 game division lead entering, and a 6.5 game division lead today.

According to FanGraphs our odds of securing a bye (87.8%) and winning the division (91.1%) entering the stretch have increased to 94.6% and 96.0% as of today.

The Brewers 21 W - 9 L record in August was 2.5 games better than anyone else in MLB for the month.

Is it safe to say the Brewers survived the Dreaded Stretch and maybe even navigated the trade deadline just fine, or am I in a game thread?

Given that the Cubs traded four prospects for Willi Castro and Mike Soroka, I’m glad for what Milwaukee did and did not do.
