Why are we talking about trading Freddy when we are in the first round of the playoffs? That's for the off-season lol

Enjoy the playoffs

You're right! I was responding to what someone wrote.

Biggest hole in our system is also that there are no starting rotation pieces we should plan on for 2026.  Some talent in AA that could be ready for 2027.  With the youth and injury histories, the rotation looks very shaky without Freddy.

I kinda agree. I think you could put together a fine rotation without Peralta... but you don't need to like when we traded Lucroy, Gomez, Hader. We have enough talent and we have Priester, Mis, Ashby, Patrick, Myers... then Hardin, Wichrowski and a few guys who COULD be ready(and who you could start if you needed someone).

Plus, I would assume we'd add a cheap vet like Wade Miley or someone along those lines(Quintana this year).

BUT... again, we don't need to. So just try and win a WS... however this year turns out.

Not every good player. Just excellent players in the final years of their contract. Yeah, it would be great to have them for another year, but if you target 2025 as the year you can realistically make it to the World Series, you make the decisions that will get you there and give you the best chance to win. We don't have $300 million plus to spend.

Jesus dude, can you just enjoy THIS game?

Yes, it make sense to trade Peralta, depending on what we get.

I don't see how it makes sense to trade your ace when you've got one of the top farm systems in the game and you're a legitimate World Series contender.

When do you actually try and win it?

It's one thing to NOT want to trade Made, Pena, Mis, Pratt, but you don't need to take away your best pitcher to add more depth to help in a few years(at which point you'll be trading away Contreras or Megill or whomever).

2026 will be the first full seasons from Misiorowski, Gasser and Henderson which will be interesting. Crow, Cornielle and Kuehner are all interesting arms that could be up by mid season.

2027 is definitively MORE exciting (Letson, Wichrowski, Hardin, Hunt) but I would not characterise 2026 as a hole

I'd like to see Ashby become a solid starter. It's something he wants to do.

I mean... they did say "the biggest hole."

We really don't have many.
C-We've got depth
IF-We can reasonably go 2 deep there over the next two years.
OF-Maybe some questions there, but you also have a young OF already in Milwaukee.

I do think two of the '27 guys could just as easily be guys who get the call in '26.

But man, what a GREAT opening game for the '25 post-season! Put 'em away early and now we're talking about the farm system because there was so little suspense in this game!

Maybe discussing trading Peralta deserves its own thread outside the IGT. It's a good, meaty topic, but seems like a big distraction to discussing this game or the series.

I'm immediately on to thinking about game 2, which seems really pivotal.

Weird game. You would think Brewers have momentum going into game two but the last 7 innings of this one have the Cubs feeling pretty good.

There is no way the Cubs are feeling pretty good. Panicked? No, probably not, but they came in and got beaten soundly in Game 1.

Let’s hope Jackson is more on point than the last time when he said it wasn’t that bad….lol

Precautionary? I like the sound of that!

Imagine anyone suggesting this with the teams reversed. They would properly be laughed off the board.

Brewers players are used to Cubs fans in our stadium, it's just a fact of life.

Not today, they said it was 80% Brewers fans in the stands for the game.

Buddy who works at stadium said a large group of Cubs fans on third base side got ejected in first and one maniac was throwing punches at cops. Asshats.

I saw online that a Cubs fan was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 10 year old. Dude looked like he was 275 lbs easy…going after a 10 year old. Crazy stuff.

I rewatched that play a bunch -Chourio got frustrated and took his helmet off when he saw Murphy coming out of the dugout knowing he was getting pulled out of a game he already had 3 hits in.  Compared to the 1st time he pulled that hammy, it wasn't like he was coming up lame down the line or even after crossing 1st, but you could tell he felt a twinge.  Hopefully the MRI result is favorable and the day off gives them a chance to see where Chourio is at baseball activity-wise.

Not saying he's for sure in the lineup Monday, but the "devastating" comment from Murph seems a bit too pessimistic.  It would suck if he's out for awhile, but it's not like the hammy ripped off the bone and he needs surgery or something

Collins can play, and play well.  Give Chourio Monday off and see what he feels like on Wednesday (although it would be nice to start him vs Imanaga...maybe he can DH?)

No kidding. At least hit the treadmill before you start hitting 10-year-old kids...

Get down to 220, THEN you can tee off on the 10-year-olds!

I agree with this.    Chourio could always pinch hit if he feels ok
