Makes sense to me, with Quintana supporting Priester to capture Game 1 and Misiorowski providing extensive long relief in Game 3’s win.

I figure the only roster spot up for grabs is Gasser’s, which could go to any of Zastryzny, Myers, Hall, Henderson, Yoho, McGee or Fedde.

Game 3 is on the road. I would prefer to keep Miz pitching at home. There’s no great options for LA, but Quintana and Myers come to mind.

You can't make game 3 a BP game when all 3 games in LA are back to back to back.  Have to get length from rotation in games 3 and 4.  If a BP game has to happen it's game 2 with a day off to rest, otherwise it's preister, Peralta, quintana to start games 1-3

I would probably go Koenig as game 1 starter with Ohtani and Freeman then Priester. Priester had one of his best games of 2025 in LA outpitching Glasnow.

I really wish Anderson could make more competitive pitches when he misses the zone.  He is either in the zone or two feet outside.

Tobias would be more consistent and could give you more length.

Two scoreless innings from Andersen at Wrigley this week. Only Quintana, Patrick and Anderson can say that. 🤷‍♂️

I say the exact same thing about Ashby when he pitches.

Peralta on regular rest (4 days) for Game 2.  Would need to pitch him on short rest to use him game #1

Ok, I totally forgot about that.

Is there any update for Woody's injury? Not sure if he's been ruled out for NLCS?

No report of him throwing = No Chance of NLCS

NLCS was basically ruled out from the start and Woodruff talked liked his season was probably over.

They may need to play this series slightly more straightforward when it comes to the starter/bulk pitcher. Only the 2 travel days as off days. 3 games in 3 days in LA.

we will need more from Priester both in quality and quantity of innings.

quintana may or may not start, but we will need probably at least 1 game where he goes 3-4 innings.

I do think there’s a decent chance we go back to a 13 man pitching staff. Remove gasser and Lockridge and add back Hall and Myers. If Henderson is available maybe he gets a shot.

I still think most bulk/starters only go 3-4 innings and the rest is pieced together by the rest of the staff.

I agree that there is a decent chance they go to 13 pitchers, would like Hall for the series and Henderson if healthy. Bench are hardly playing so think they can afford to remove a Lockridge or Collins.

So woodruff doesn’t appear in the playoffs for three straight years for us?

I think you hope Priester OR Quintana can give you 3 innings and then bullpen Game #1. Leaving the other fresh for Game #3. Our best pitchers are the relief guys. They need to all pitch the first two games and then get rest on the travel day.

We cannot play this straight up with the starters. Ours aren’t that good and we won’t win the series. Murphy is going to have to pull the right strings and be bold to win it.

I think we also need someone on the roster to be a literal waste of space and take one to the chest. The Dodgers are good and one of these games they are probably going to obliterate our pitching early and someone will just have to take one for the team to save pitching.

But the end of the day if we gotta burn Quintana and Priester in the first two games and have neither for Game #3 you gotta do it. We can’t afford to go to LA down two games…so if we gotta empty the pitching to find a way to win one of the first two…gotta do it.

Gotta win one at home, gotta win one LA, and just find a way to get the series back to Milwaukee.

Yeah I agree. Collins has been awful for a while and barely saw the field in the NLDS. Replace him with a pitcher. (preferably Hall)

Bullpen/piggyback games are at home and before/after off days in case they need to use a lot of pitchers.

I’m in favor of carrying 13 pitchers with less rest days available.

I would keep Collins over Lockridge. He’s a switch hitter, a little more versatile in an emergency, and his struggles are a little overstated. There were parts of the season that there wasn’t anyone you wanted up more in the clutch.

Drop Lockridge and Gasser, add Myers, Hall, and Henderson if available.

Some good thoughts here. A lot depends on health (Hall and Henderson more than Woodruff) and roster construction (the Mariners went with 13 pitchers, but with Chourio a little wounded, maybe we don't want to, we'll see).

I think the Cubs series was always going to come down to which team could slug. This one feels like it's all about starting pitching. If we can hold down the Dodger advantage there, I think we've got a shot. But we've got to turn a lot of these games into bullpen games, and we need our bullpen to be close to as good as it was in this series.

Because of that, I think you gotta take shots at having real starters early, especially with the limited off days and how hard the pen worked to take the NLDS. That's why I'm in on Priester tomorrow. I think that kid'll be hungry for redemption, and he's been awesome all year. If you're going to shy away from your second-best pitcher in Game 1 of the NLCS because he got shelled in one inning in his postseason debut, you didn't trust that guy very much coming in, and you probably don't have enough pitching to advance.

For all the tension and all-out effort to get outs over these five games, we've got our two best guys lined up to pitch Games 1 and 2 at home in the NLCS, on regular rest. Roll 'em out there, and if a great offense does its great offense thing, you live with it.
