Agreed. There will not be as much pressure in the Dodgers games, but they have a much better lineup. The pressures in the Cubs series came from many directions, and they were intense.

100%. I think the players will play loose against the Dodgers and that bodes well. I think it's clear the Cubs series meant as much to the players as the fans (grabbing the Fly the L flag). I think the players were hyped and as a result, the pressure got to them a bit at times. They still got the job done but I think will be looser and better in this series.

The truth is that baseball is so susceptible to random outcomes that it really doesn't matter that we swept them 6-0 or that they're "better" than us. If you inserted the Pirates into the World Series they would have a fair chance of winning it. This is far more true in baseball than any of the other major sports. We don't have to be better than the Dodgers to beat them and the fact that we beat them 6 times doesn't mean we'll beat them 10 times.

But the best part of that is you always have a chance. I don't buy for a second that we're some crazy longshot. We could get swept, sure, but that would also be more of a random outcome than anything else.

i just cant see Dodgers being that much better having been swept 6-0. Which is crazy itself and should give the Brewers some swagger relative to previous years. Some of our pitchers made them look silly. Dodgers have to prove they are worth the money and anything less than the WS win is a fail given the disparity. Brewers played the good teams well and had an incredible run differential after the Yankees Series. Brewers are sneaky talented. No reason to believe they shouldnt win this, but they are so far above expectations that it shouldnt be as much pressure.

It's the calm before the storm right now. If we pick up some wins early in the series and can start to taste the pennant, it's going to be intense.

The national commentators can babble on all they want but these teams are closely matched in overall talent despite different strengths/weaknesses.

When it comes down to the moments that matter I think our guys are going to want it more.

Brewers in 7.

So where do your allegiances lie in a Brewers/Mariners World Series?

There were so many pressures that made it intense for the players and fans.

Brewers can't win in the playoffs, they are just a regular season team.  we heard it all year.

Playing their biggest rival.

Counsell leaving and going to Chicago

FIBs being Fibs

Calling our Stadium Wrigley North

How last year ended in dramatic fashion

There were so many reasons I couldn't stomach a first round loss this year.  I instantly felt a huge relief when they won.  I'm sure the players did too.

As for the Dodgers, I have a few concerns.  My first is will they come out flat tonight after a very emotional win Saturday?  Set's up perfect for a let down.  An absolutely electric environment Saturday.  The fans will really have to get that going early tonight.  I do think the Dodgers gave us a higher level effort during the regular season after we won a few games.  I believe the crowd was pretty electric in Milwaukee for the series, playoff environment.  We handled their best efforts and won.  That said, we were hot and they were cold.  The Dodgers are hot right now it seems.  I think we will have more determination but we will need some luck too.  Hoping for a great series..... or a sweep for the Brewers so I don't have to stress as much.

I expected to see Mears instead of Anderson. Gasser I get because he can mop up and give you 3-5 innings if you're getting blown out...and still has the potential to be good.

I may get banned from this forum if I answer the question wrong haha.

Definitely Brewers though, you can't go against your childhood team + winning it for Ueck, and I've only been following the Mariners closely for the last 4-5 seasons. I didn't watch all those miserable Brewers teams in the 90s/early 2000s just to abandon them when they finally reach the top of the mountain.

I had a Kestrel named Kevin.

We hunted together several times per week for 2 years.

His favorite was hunting Starlings form the car, (he almost never missed).

While I'm intrigued about Falconry... I'm totally lost on the relevance here?

Is it possible that Mears is someone they talked to after the series and they feel he’s just spent right now?

The NLCS is more demanding than the NLDS in terms of days off. It’s definitely not performance related, Mears pitched well in the NLDS — but when they started leaning on him in September, he was really starting to struggle.

Perhaps he’s a guy that they’ve identified who has little in the tank right now, they personally believe he’d struggle right now without a quick break, and the plan is to get him a week plus off and then get him back for hopefully the World Series.

Whereas Myers has a pretty fresh arm right now. I don’t know, just a theory.

That seems plausible.  There was an obvious "Mears moment" in the last game where Ashby left 2 guys on base with 1 out and they brought in Patrick instead.  Might've tipped the hat that he isn't quite right for the moment.

Possible? Yes. But I think it's more likely that the calculus was that we just need more multi-inning guys in a long series without a healthy Woodruff as one of the starters. Plus, Patrick can play the Mears role, and then go another inning.

I do wonder how much rest some of the bullpen arms need between appearances - can Patrick go on consecutive days, for example? It's new to alot of these guys, but you can rest in the offseason.

I'm not worried about Patrick and Mis but I'm a little worried about Patrick and Mis. Both guys started all year and were in the rhythm of 4 days between games. Patrick pitched in 4 out of the 5 games against Chi!

I'm sure it is nothing and they are both bulldogs and can throw everyday. I'm just saying ... I will feel a lot better winning tonight if we can save both of their arms. Mis especially as we are way over what his inning total was supposed to be this year.

With that said, do what needs to be done to win. They were arguably two of our 5 most important players in the last series and we are going to need them both again.
