I would blame the salary differential but the Cubs spent $45 million more than the Brewers and that didnt help them.

Our offense really disappeared after Game 2 of the DS but it got masked by the outcome of Game 5. We got bailed out with a few solo shots there but we had stopped stringing hits together. One of the reasons I don't fully buy the narrative that we just couldn't compete with the Dodgers. That may be true, but I think our own role in this is being cast aside a little too conveniently. We didn't play well.

This will stay with them. And that's good. It should.

LA played exceptional baseball. The Brewers played some of their worst. It'll feel like the gap is massive, but the Crew isn't that far away.

But it's gonna take some ruthlessness from the F.O. and some spending from the ownership to get them over the hump.

In reality they haven’t played well since the 14 game winning streak. They feasted on bad teams, but were lifeless against teams with a pulse during that time.

Amazing season. Grateful for the very fun ride.

Wheels fell off. Can’t compete with both talent and experience in postseason. the dodgers do not develop talent. They buy it from others who developed it. Brew Crew put nobodies and some has beens in the lineup and made them memorable stars.

can’t believe we couldn’t win 1 at home. When you have the best record you get that ADVANTAGE. Wonder what Uecker would say…

Can’t wait for spring training. That’s the best part of living in the desert.

By my count (it's probably wrong) we can pay $17MM to free up $65MM from next year's cap, obviously don't see us going crazy but should free up some money to either make some short term adds or allocate towards extensions.

Let's keep one thing in mind. There were four teams still playing out of 30, and the Milwaukee Brewers were one of them. Then consider the preseason expectations.

Bad time to go into a teamwide offensive funk, obviously. Four games, four very good to outstanding starts from LA's hurlers. I thought Ohtani did a terrific job of keeping us off balance btwn the FB & breaking stuff. But was he one-hit-in-six-innings good? No. Outside of a few good ABs from Bauers this was a pretty ugly performance from some LHHs who are capable of more. I wonder if the long ball power shown vs Chicago got us out of our mindset a bit. I'm sure there will be a lot of "WE NEED TO ADD A BAT!!! TWO BATS!!! THREE BATS!!! talk in the days to come. I imagine there probably is some of that in this very thread. And if something creative can be engineered to improve the lineup, great. But to me this is always going to be, more than everything else, about Needed improvement/consistency from the people like Turang, Frelick, Collins, Durbin, and yes, even a Perkins or an Ortiz assuming they have a role in 2026. And I'll be really interested in seeing how Yelich comes out next year after what has been a productive yet maddingly inconsistent season. Veteran leaders CAN NOT run that hot & cold.

We're lucky to have Chourio. And the kind of stick-your-nose-in-there-and-compete type of series we expected from someone like Frelick, we pretty much got from Durbin. Well done.

Outside of maybe 3/4 bad innings, I thought the staff did an acceptable to outstanding job all series vs an incredibly tough lineup.

This board is a great place. Looking forward to the hot stove talk.

Surely you see the difference between $45mil and hundreds of millions. And it certainly did help them, they aren’t even a .500 team if we booted $45mil off their roster. Most of the pests that series were some of their higher paid people.

But thus, I can’t blame someone for wanting to ignore the payroll reality. It’s probably way less depressing to watch if you think the Brewers actually have a reasonable chance to win.

We seen history: Bob Gibson and Babe Ruth were the only two pitchers to hit a HR and pitch for a win in the playoffs.
Shohei pitched and won and hit 3 HR's.

Obviously, super disappointed. But I always remind myself that every year, 29 fanbases end the season upset — especially from teams ranked somewhere between 2 and 12. Whether your team completely fell apart (looking at you, Pirates, Rockies, White Sox), massively underperformed (Orioles, Angels, D-backs), or did great only to choke in October (Brewers, Phillies, Yankees)… fans are usually always heartbroken. Even the team that loses the World Series walks away crushed.

Going out the way we did definitely wasn’t fun, but there’s still a lot to be grateful for:

  • Chourio looked legitimately great this year.

  • Miz finished the season strong.

  • Woodruff not only came back — he looked fantastic.

  • Yelich hit 100+ RBIs with 29 homers.

  • Vaughn gave us some unforgettable moments.

  • We beat the Cubs to win the DS.

  • Set a franchise win streak record.

  • Set a franchise record 97 wins.

  • Claimed another Central title.

  • And our farm system looks bright for the future.

I’m sure I’m missing a few, but there’s plenty to high-five each other over. Could’ve been better, sure — but hey, at least we’re not the Pirates.

The underlined. That's not us, not if we want to sustain.

We have money coming off the books and with Yelich’s bounce back season could free up even more with a team that wants to see if he’ll hit in October for them. So there’s no real reason we can’t either get something worked out with Wild Bill and/or be active players in FA but I’m a bit skeptical Mark and the rest of the investors will want to be putting new money on the books ahead of 2027. He can’t come out and admit it but if he’s getting the feeling from other owners that a lockout is more likely than not he may actually give the directive to baseball operations to cut payroll even further next year rather than add.

I just want to say a couple of things...

1. I have lurked on these boards for years but never really posted till this year. I have enjoyed the interaction here a great deal and it has really made this season more unforgettable.

2. I more than ever believe in this franchise. I am totally down and out right now, but I am at least optimistic about future. Only about 5 teams can feel that way, and we are one of them.

The problem with the 97 win brewers in this series is the guys we spend money on like Hoskins Yelich woodruff are nowhere to be found.   Somehow we have to do a better job when we do spend the money.

Really good point.

Just to be clear, when I actually stepped out and posted on this forum it was because I thought we should have been more aggressive and signed Suarez. How does that look now? I was destroyed back then by folks who thought we were fine, I knew we were not.

Suarez was bad post deadline (.189/.255/.428/.683 91 wRC+) and in the playoffs before tonight's game (.162/.206/.270/.476 36 wRC+)
