The league office can claim all they want that the replacements were fine and that call was correct, however after that call, things were wrapped up very quickly to get the regular refs back.  Maybe they are hoping they can mitigate it with this plan, but I can't imagine the chaos this will cause during GameDay.

Just pay them.  It's worth it.

I remember a few days before the game the league saying they weren't close to a deal. That changed pretty quick after the game.

Dexter Lawrence traded to the Bengals for at least the 10th overall pick. Great move for the Bengals.

  • CBS: Sunday afternoon games (AFC package).
  • FOX: Sunday afternoon games (NFC package).
  • NBC: Sunday Night Football and kickoff games.
  • ESPN / ABC: Monday Night Football.
  • NFL Network: Exclusive games, international matchups
  • Netflix: Exclusive games, including a Thanksgiving Eve game and a Christmas doubleheader
  • Amazon Prime Video: Exclusive Thursday Night Football
  • Peacock: Exclusive Saturday night game
  • Paramount+: Streaming all CBS games
  • ESPN+: Streaming exclusive games

They need to see what is happening to the WWE.  They moved RAW to Netflix, have Smackdown on USA (cable), Saturday Night's Main Event on Peacock, and premium live events on ESPN Unlimited.  And they're wondering why ticket sales were down for Wrestlemania.

Ticket sales for Wresltemania were crazy expensive this year.  I think the cheapest package was like $500.  Also doesn’t help it was in Vegas again and everything in Vegas has like doubled to tripled the price.  Even downtown Vegas has become unaffordable.

Even with the cheapest tickets you are spending about $2-3k for that event when you include food, flights and transportation.

Ahh, back to the good old days where you had maybe three games a week and you liked it! All these new fangled services offering more games is just wrong!

If that's what they're using as the list of 10 I don't get how you "need access to 10 platforms". You can't say NBC, CBS, and ABC are 3 separate platforms. They're OTA channels that anyone can get, or if they use a TV streaming service they will have access to all of those.

The vast majority of games will be available OTA as usual. That's 1. Then Thursday games are Prime, that's 2. Then some sporadic games will require other platforms which a particular fanbase may or may not care about. There's no "10 platforms" that every football fan is going to need.

Ahhh... but it is more sensational to split those out.  The number is higher!

Unless you are out of market for your favorite team.

Living in Denver, I'm subject to whatever games they choose to show locally as well as local regulations that often won't allow CBS/Fox to show the later game if the earlier game they show isn't the national game.  So I would have to have something to stream those games.  Plus Amazon Prime for the Thursday games.  Plus Netflix for the Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas day games.  And potentially Peacock for the Week 18 game if it's on a Saturday.  So, that's:

  1. Cable/YouTube TV
  2. Prime
  3. Netflix
  4. CBS/Paramount
  5. Fox Sports
  6. Peacock

Potentially six if I want to watch all Packers games.

Having more games on TV on more days of the week is fine. Having games on multiple streaming services you have to buy in order to watch said games is dumb.

Remember what Goodell told us though. They're here for the fans.

Unless they make each team negotiate their own deal.  Then the Packers will no longer exist.

I can't reliably get CBS, ABC, or Fox to come in over the air where I live. Which is weird because they used to work fairly well. I also have very mediocre internet options.

I will continue to watch all my games on the same streaming service... NFL+.  If I can't watch the game on the streaming services/OTA that I have... I just watch it in replay.  Living in MN, I've gotten used to not having it live.
