Right-hander Drew Rasmussen starts the rubber match for the Rays. Rasmussen was a former Brewer who was sent to Tampa in exchange for Willy Adames. This seems like one of the more win-win trades in recent memory.

Brewers received: Adames (14 bWAR)

Rays received: Rasmussen (11.1 bWAR) and Feyereisen (2 bWAR)

If Rasmussen produces more than one win above replacement level this season then the Rays might seem like they come out a little ahead. However, Milwaukee also received Brady Ebel from the draft pick they acquired as compensation for losing Adames in free agency after he declined their qualifying offer.

Rasmussen has one career start against the Brewers on 5/11/25, allowing 4 H, 3 ER, 2 HR, 1 BB with 3 K over 5 IP. Milwaukee beat Tampa Bay, 4-2. Rasmussen took the loss.

Jacob Misiorowski makes his second start of the season for the Brewers. This will be Miz's first career appearance against Tampa Bay.

I’m excited for some day baseball. I’d like to see Miz pitch to contact a bit more to keep his pitch count down. I think he will learn that skill as he matures. He sure is fun to watch.

How about a laugher to get Hall and Woodford some action. I suppose regardless, they're going to be the ones getting the call.

With off day tomorrow, Ashby could be the first man up if a medium leverage situation occurs in the 4th inning? 🙂🤷‍♂️

Rays win that trade pretty easily if Rasmussen was more healthy. If he stays healthy now the Rays will get some nice assets in return when traded mid season or after this season.

I think that's one where it's not just about WAR accumulation. Adames was huge both in presence, leadership, and what he actually contributed from the SS position. It worked out well for both teams, and that's a perfectly fine outcome.

Rasmussen's whole issue is never being able to stay healthy.  He's the Garrett Mitchell of pitchers.

Anytime you land your everyday SS for 3.5 years in his prime for a talented but oft-injured arm, you make that trade - especially from a Brewer's organization who knows how to develop and acquire pitching.

I think Miz pitching to contact is always going to be a problem, moreso because hitters aren't going to hold up their end of the bargain and actually hit his stuff even when he's pounding the strike zone.  Get us through 5-6 IP with around 10Ks and limit walks, and let's win the series!

How many times is CB going to be challenged today?

I joked that the over/under for number of pitches thrown before the first challenge today should be set at 3...

I think the better question is regardless of the number of challenges, will either team wind up being wrong twice before the game ends?

Except Rasmussen has had considerably more on field success than Mitchell

Yep. Pitching to contact is good if your stuff generates a lot of ground balls. If players get hold of fastballs going that fast, they often go for a while.

Yah, but I don’t know if he ever moves back to the rotation if he stays in Milwaukee.

Also it's hardly surprising that Rasmussen dealt with more injuries. He was already 2 TJ down when we traded him.

All kidding/ridicule aside, that was a brutal shot that CB just took right to the face.  Sincerely hope he's ok and glad for his sake that he's not still behind the plate.  Almost positive he just got concussed.
