For those lamenting about the slow starts for Pratt & Williams in light of the struggles of some of the INFs in Milwaukee----Don't look now but Pratt is 8 for his last 17, with four walks drawn & only one K.

Williams is a little more modest but still robust 8-22 with 7 RBI.

Even Brock Wilken seems to be slowly coming around (6-game hitting streak; 17-game on-base streak), though he needs to tap into the power as a big next step.

I saw something a few weeks ago about sample sizes and slumps and someone mentioned that during Barry Bonds' historic season in 2001 he had a 24 game stretch mid season where he went 195/421/403/823. That seems almost impossible given he ended up with an OPS of 1.379 but shows that 24 games does not a season make.

It also shows that slumps in mid-season are harder to spot than slumps at the beginning of the season.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I don't think he has to stay that hot for very long to justify a promotion. Just putting up a month of May where he is hitting well in general could be enough in my mind to bring up Pratt. Having some of those singles fall in of course right now helps make up for the rough start, but I'm sure the Brewers as usual are also looking at all the underlying data before making a move probably with the intention that when he gets promoted he stays up for good.

Yeah, after Pratt's first 75 PA he was sitting at 156/270/172 (30 wRC+).

This recent hot streak (22 PA of 268 wRC+) has raised his seasonal line all the way up to an 85 wRC+.

Over his first 99 PA at AAA as a 21 year old back in 2021 Brice Turang posted an 81 wRC+.

High-A Wisconsin host Quad Cities for a doubleheader, trailing 1-0 in this week’s series. 20-year old RHP Bryce Meccage has limited runs despite high walks (2.93 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 15.1 IP). CF Braylon Payne leads the Midwest League with a .722 SLG.

That was defnitely me.  It was a concerning start for those two and Wilken, but happy if they turn it around.

2B Dylan O’Rae’s (.910 OPS in 106 PAs) on-base streak has reached 22 games for AA Biloxi, who are tied 1-1 in their series at Pensacola. RHP Jaron DeBerry needs to bounce back from his last outing (3.2 IP, 6 R (5 ER), 5 Ks).

The AAA Sounds host a doubleheader against Norfolk, leading the series 1-0, with LHP Robert Gasser starting again after throwing 32 pitches on Saturday. CF Jackson Chourio and 1B Andrew Vaughn make their 2nd rehab starts. SS Cooper Pratt is 8-for-17 with 5 walks over his 5-game hitting streak.

Me too, to be honest😁. I think the hype of the trade w/NY (Williams) & the contract (Pratt) fueled some of it.

The Low-A Warbirds are tied 1-1 in their home series against Salem, with 6’6” LHP Andrew Healy (6.2 IP, 10 R, 9 Ks in 6.2 IP) getting tonight’s start. DH Luis Lameda (.855 OPS in 50 PAs) is the sole Wilson player with an OPS above .700.

Meccage and Rivera unfortunately did not show up today. 10 runs and counting for Quad Cities and the 2nd inning isn't even over yet.

DeBerry really struggled to throw strikes tonight. Didn't make it out of the first inning due to a high pitch count. 37 pitches, 20 strikes.

Yeah, it also shows what a "slump" looked like for Bonds!

.421 OBP, during that "slump."

Man the pitching prospects (below AAA) in this system just cant get any momentum going this year.

Yeah, everyone looks to have fallen off a cliff.

Wonder what is going on?

After dropping the first game of today’s doubleheader to Quad Cities, the High-A Timber Rattlers need a win in the home nightcap to avoid an 0-3 series hole. LHP Wande Torres (5.14 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, 11.6 K/9 in 14.0 IP) gets the start, while Luis Castillo, David Garcia and Luiyin Alastre join the lineup.

Jeez. Carlos Carra was already at 68 pitches before the HBP, 2-run homer and 2 singles.

Wilson’s clinging to a 5-4 lead with 1 out in the top of the 8th inning.
