Crazy as it sounds because you would not know it by the box score but this was far from our best pitching performance.

Got away with a ton of mistake pitches tonight.

That's baseball, we might make very few mistakes tomorrow and the Dodgers might punish them anyway. I’ll take it!

Huge to win the first game of the series.  Coming in I would have been ok with 1 of 3, but now lets win another series vs a playoff team.

Dodgers have stranded nine and are 0 for 7 with RISP

Lowest wOBA allowed with RISP...

2026 before tonight
MIL (.269) NYY (.285)

2025
MIL (.292) PIT (.293)

2024
MIL (.286) CLE (.288)

2024-26
MIL (.287) CLE (.294)

Put it all together and the Brewers 75.9% Strand Rate is best in MLB from 2024 to present, which has helped them beat their FIP by an MLB best -0.38 runs per nine over that same stretch, en route to allowing thee fewest runs in MLB over the last two plus seasons.

I know it’s the regular season but the Dodgers aren’t exactly a regular season juggernaut and every loss gets them closer to having to play the wild card series and possibly not being in our way in October.

So when you walk 6, hit one & commit an error and still hold this group to one run, you made some big pitches in huge situations---or you're lucky. It depends on which brand you usually smoke. I'd say tonite it's mostly the former, especially Henderson beating Muncy w/the bases loaded & K'ing Ohtani to finish his day. Murphy has historically been quick with the hook with the young starters with good results but when you look closely, he also picks & chooses situations to allow growth. He did that to get Henderson through five---of course a 5-run lead helped make that an easier decision.

First no-no from Bauers in LF on his incorrect throw; fortunately it didn't hurt.

Now 18 W - 6 L against teams at .500 or better on the year.

During this recent 17 W - 5 L streak they have allowed three or fewer runs in 18 of the games.

He had 3 years in Anaheim where he was serviceable so I get what they were thinking. But he was not good last year and has been even worse this year so yeah he’s probably cooked.

There are signs of that; yet he's still on the short side of 30 so it's very odd to me. He might be feeling a little heat given the defense hasn't been strong lately. Still, he made a nice play in the 9th. Given the timeline, they spent ST taking a good long look at Williams, then decided to give him more time in AAA. Given he's played more SS than anything coming into this year it was understandable.

Rengifo, Hamilton, Perkins are all in audition mode right now. Shoe(s) will drop sometime in June I would imagine.

I know it might not last but if this is the Bauer's we are going to get this season, we have to find a way to play him, Vaughn, and Yelich most days. Those three guys hitting 4,5,,6 makes this lineup feel more deadly. Now if we can get Sal hot again?

A Vaughn/Bauer's platoon seems ridiculous. Play both.

Don't think a single pitcher to step on that mound tonight pitched close to their best and they held the best offense in baseball to 1 run. Seriously impressive stuff.

It's probably totally meaningless, but kind of interesting nonetheless, Bauers positional splits since joining the Brewers...

1B (487 PA)
218/308/385 (95 wRC+)
10.5 BB% | 29.4 K%

OF (122 PA)
284/402/500 (154 wRC+)
15.6 BB% | 24.6 K%

PH (65 PA)
231/369/346 (110 wRC+)
16.9 BB% | 30.8 K%

DH (52 PA)
239/327/457 (120 wRC+)
11.5 BB% | 34.6 K%

Overall the Brewers have gone 21 W - 14 L in the 35 games Bauers has started in the OF since 2024.
