I’ve been rooting for Detroit to get back into the playoff race and not trade Skubal. I don’t think the Brewers were going to be a real threat to trade for Skubal so I don’t want him traded.

Tigers have played well in June, including sweeps of the Rays and White Sox. They are hanging around now in a weak division so think it will be last minute if they trade him.

Strongly agree with this take. Half the argument for us trading for him in the first place is to keep him away from the Dodgers.

That's the Dodgers' argument, too, though.

Maybe we all win then if he stays with Detroit.

For LA it's really just a matter of waiting 6 months until they can write him a check.

We've seen a different approach regarding prospects at deadlines for a while now, so if these are the prices, I just don't see the brewers moving and that would be fair

Add to that skubal might not be the same and that makes a doubly problematic choice. Not going to roll our dice on the future unless it's a sure fire ace

Let's be honest for a second about Arnold paying full price for an obvious name.

MA is the guy wearing a  leisure suit and fanny pack holding up the line at the card show because he's digging through a box of commons for a rare misprint. And I mean that with all respect and admiration

Fischer, Jett, and Sproat for Skubal

If Gasser and Sproat keep rolling up until close to the deadline, I just don't see a need to mortgage our future for 3 months of Skubal.

Plus, his injury REALLY concerns me.

Add Woodruff to the mix (but I don't see a scenario where he doesn't do at least one more trip to the IL this season) and the need for Skubal is even less.

Not to mention Henderson getting healthy.

I'd rather put some prospects into a bat to be honest.  I mean a real bat, not some fringey guy we hope to catch lightning in a bottle with.

In no world should a player like Pena be moved for any rental.

God no. For a 2 month rental?

I have... literally ZERO doubt that Attanasio would approve this and it'd be little more than Arnold telling him what move they were making. People put WAY to much on Attanasio. He's stepped away from the decision making for... a decade now and we've been all the better for it.

Though... I didn't really understand the analogy you were making, I did infer you were suggesting Attanasio would be the one quashing it.

I don't care nearly as much about Gasser(or Henderson for that matter) as I do Sproat.
It's easier to say coming off this type of start, but I've been saying it all year, he's got TOR stuff and it'd be foolish to trade him.

I don't think we would entertain Pena, Sproat, Lara after extending him(not that he should be untouchable, just... why after extending him).

Again, start with Henderson, Gasser and... Luke Adams, a PTBNL if we get to the WS with a pool of players to pick from. I wouldn't go much higher than that and the PTBNL would have to be lower tier players.

They have MIFers, OF prospects. They need arms and it looks like some power bats.

That said I think River Ryan and Mike Sirota would be a package that'd make a lot more sense for Det and one I wouldn't want to beat. Gives them a high upside arm and while he's older, Detroit should be looking at the 6-7 years they get from him.

Just that Matt Arnolds game is bargain hunting. He's not paying top dollar for anyone outside of the org.

Sorry of the confusion. I actually don't think Attanasio is cheap at all. We had the Seligs..
