What about the GM who’s suppose to provide quality players for Murphy to manage. Arnold needs to do his part and needs to take some of responsibility, too.

The state of Wisconsin spends tens of billions of tax dollars each year. If we were serious about winning, we would have created a referendum proposing  a 30 year bond to finance our acquisition of Shohei Ohtani.

If the state of Indiana can help the Bears with $1 billion for a stadium that doesn’t actually do anything, why can’t we collectively invest in world-class talent? When does the state of Wisconsin start to receive criticism? 🙂

I’m still suing the brewers over Perkins appearances.   You cannot represent yourself as a Major League Baseball team and play him as much as they do.   It’s blatant false advertising.

I think it is fair to ask what Perkins and Ortiz are doing on the team when each has options to the minors. They still would provide depth and could be brought up if injury occurs or if their presence/defense are missed.

We also would like to see what Williams/Pratt and especially Lara could do! What more does Lara have to do?

Perkins is just holding on to a roster spot until Lockridge is ready.

As bad as Blake's 176/263/265 (53 wRC+) vs LHP was entering today it was still considerably better than Sal at 127/183/200 (7 wRC+) vs LHP so far this year.

For their careers it is a 90 wRC+ vs LHP for Perkins vs a 77 wRC+ vs LHP for Frelick.

Since Chourio came back on May 4th and Lockridge got injured on May 8th, Perkins has started a grand total of four games (all wins, naturally). They aren't going to call up Lara and interrupt his development for that kind of scant playing time.

Right now there are only five lineup spots for the six of Vaughn, Bauers, Yelich, Chourio, Mitchell and Frelick in any one game. Believe it will probably take one of the three regular OF getting injured for a stretch (even then they might be fine platooning Bauers/Lockridge) or maybe Sal hitting poorly for another couple months before they would consider Luis.

As far as Ortiz, his +3 DRS is tied for 3rd and his +4 FRV is 6th among shortstops with 250 innings this year. Until the Brewers evaluators believe Pratt is ready for MLB that SS defense is valuable since Hamilton has appeared overmatched there (-4 FRV this year, -10 for his career).

Much like the Brewers as a team [89 wRC+ Bases Empty (22nd) vs 133 wRC+ w/ RISP (1st)], Joey has saved his best for the bigger moments at the plate to this point (51 wRC+ Bases Empty vs 138 wRC+ w/ RISP) so his contributions to winning and losing -0.67 WPA (58th worst min. 130 PA this year) haven't been quite as bad as his raw batting line (59 wRC+ | 20th lowest min. 130 PA).

Worked all day. Missed the whole game. Just catching up.

IGT summary from start to finish...

Chourio needs a day off. Brewers defense has gone MIA. We are making an 8 ERA guy look like Cy Young. Gary Sanchez needs to be tazed. Why are we giving Yeli and Bauers both the day off. Arnold needs to be held accountable for this roster. Murphy can't make in game decisions. Drohan deserved better. Vaughn hits the ball hard. Why does our offense have to be asleep for half of every game.

*Checks score*

12-4 Brewers win. 17 hits. Drohan pitched into the 7th. The 3 IGT punching bags at the bottom of the order reach base 6 times and drove in 3 runs. Half of the lineup had multi hit games.

Never change IGT 😂 😂

Imagine the fan message board reaction if the Brewers run out of gas in August because the manager doesn't give any starting position player a day off and he works his bullpen to death trying to win every single game.

Mitchell back up to a 116 wRC+ after today. I get he does it in not the most pleasing way but he's a good player and has such a high ceiling.

I think the poster who posted that was frustrated that Perkins and Rengifo are still on the roster.  I’m not sure why you think that means that posted wants Arnold fired.

i’m guessing 95% of the posters at BF do not believe either of those two players belongs on a MLB roster

Which is why we need some backup players who aren’t batting below .200 with an OPS below .550

Doesn’t seem like a big ask

I didn’t see any posters complaining about Drohan.  Kid pitched very well.  They were complaining about our defense being crap yet again which led to all three runs.

i think the frustration was with the offense through the first 5 innings which had not produced much against a starter that has been shelled in pretty much every start the past 2 months on his way to the worst ERA in the majors (worse than even Sproat).

I agree that overly negative posters are exhausting.  So are “homer” fans who post everything is great no matter what.

Criticism is fine.  The roster isnt perfect, nor is the GM.  But they are pretty great.  So when someone says Arnold needs to find quality players and its time for him to take responsibility, I think thats a little over the top.  If that wasn't the intent of that post, I apologize.  Sometimes, on a message board or even text, it's difficult to gauge intent.  If that's what happened, then that's my fault.  The criticisms of Murphy, as in not being the guy for the playoffs, I dont agree with.  I dont think they lost last year because of his decisions.

I agree.  We haven’t lost any playoff series because of Murphy.  We did because our elite players didn’t get it done, and because the Dodgers had about 10 elite players to our 3.

given how well our pitching kept us in the games against LA, what we really needed was an elite bat or two.

many people have commented (and I believe they are correct), that the challenge with the brewers offense is that we score a huge number of our regular season runs off of opponent errors and walks.  When the Bench gets shorter and we face only elite pitching, that has made it tough to score because our opponents in the playoffs don’t beat themselves.

I never said anyone said anything negative against Shane. I said the opposite, in fact.

I love the igt threads. They are a great perspective recalibration for me and endless entertainment. I will never be a fan the same way many seem to be who frequent it but that's why sports are amazing.. They fulfill people in different ways.

I'll continue to poke fun at the mopes and expect it to be returned similarly... all in the name of #gocrew

Don’t ya know that the Force is real!  How else could Arnold receive the GM of the year?  It is a trans-sham-mockery.

I’ve been as big of an advocate for Lara as anybody, but I never would have dreamed as a Brewer fan in the early 2000s watching to see if Ronnie Belliard and John Vander Wal could get us to 65 wins, that we’d ever have a perennial playoff team on pace for 103 wins in June whose biggest problem is we can’t find enough playing time to justify bringing up our hotshot 21 year old outfield prospect raking with a .947 OPS in AAA.

What an awfully good problem to have.
