Vaughn 176 wRC+
Bauers 148 wRC+
Chourio 143 wRC+
Turang 139 wRC+
Yelich 121 wRC+
Mitchell 116 wRC+
Contreras 108 wRC+

The Brewers have seven effective regulars.

League average for a #9 hitter is a 76 wRC+ which Hamilton (90 wRC+) clears easily.

The evidence is pretty clear, the Brewers have scored the 3rd most runs in baseball while playing at a 100 Win pace thus far.

Both of those numbers are ahead of my personal expectations so hard for me to be too disappointed.

Here comes the goal post moving...

Yanking a guy at 68 pitches might be overthinking the game.

Maybe Murphy is keep a limit on his innings count for the year. He threw around 140 last year between AAA and MIL. And they have other young arms in the rotation that aren't built up for 150+ yet either. Maybe he is trying to milk them all out as best as possible. Just a guess.

He's more capable of playing in the infield than players who have never played in the infield. Yes that's blatantly obvious. That doesn't mean he's capable of starting and playing 9 innings at 3B.

Regarding Vaughn, I didn't look it up, but I seem to remember that the Sox had him play a little 3B...I'd guess he also played it in the minors.  Its not like its completely foreign to him.  They also had him in the outfield a little.  I'd kind of wondered whether the Brewers would ever try this.  At 1st, you need to handle line drives and hot grounders down the line.  I don't know anything about his arm and surely range is a problem, but I wouldn't be against them playing with it a little bit.  Playing he and Bauers together more often could be huge.  The guy's hitting .360...how do you sit him down??  (these things don't last forever!)

If this is the game where we look back and say "here's where Sproat figured it out", then this game was important, regardless of the outcome.  Tough (make that weird) environment and a great performance.  Murph, I think, knew to get him out while everything was very positive.

I think losing 2 games in a row in a bandbox with your aces sitting out and bad umping is the ideal time to pronounce judgments regarding the impending futility of your team

You are going to have to watch some old replays from 2005.

I don't know... was our pitching staff even good enough in that era to go nine innings at any point? lol

Ben Sheet was

I don’t know why but I feel like I distinctly remember Tomo Okha pitching a complete game shortly after we acquired him.

This easily could have been a 3-game sweep of the Brewers.

We also could have easily been swept...

It's all in how you look at it.

The A's are probably pissed they blew game one, or they would have had a sweep.

Could have been heat.  I think it was close to 100 degrees about 30 minutes before first pitch.

It's not Astro-turf, but it still takes a while to cool off after being in the direct sun all day close to the longest day of the year.

It's nearly as unwatchable as that Banana ball circus.

I watched 2 innings of one of their games on tv a couple weeks ago.

I honestly have no idea how a baseball fan could watch that nonsense and get one ounce of enjoyment out of it.  It was absolute ridiculousness at every turn.  I completely hated it, and there was no chance I could have watched it any longer than I did.

Just a bunch of shirtless dudes, prancing around the ball diamond, looking like flunky burlesque wanna bes.

I think the entire thing is an embarrassment, yet millions of people fall all over themselves trying to get tickets. Go figure.

I think it’s probably much more simple than this. He’s not done well late in games. They had leverage bullpen arms that have been incredibly affective available and going into an off day. He had just given up a HR in the 6th. Pulling him after a good outing and a confidence builder and turning the ball over to your best bullpen arms for the last 3 to secure a victory is pretty much a no brainer. It didn’t work, but it’s hard to argue with the process.

It’s hard to fathom how much people on here would’ve been killing Murph is he left Sproat in and that blow up inning happened to him rather than Patrick. People have been calling for Sproat’s head, and are now questioning why he wasn’t sent back out for the 7th. Patrick, Ashby, Uribe, Megill all were better options - sometimes the right decision doesn’t work.

That line is almost impossible to imagine today. 98 pitches in 9 innings with 9 hits and 6 strikeouts = 2.7 pitchers per hitter.

It reminds of the 90's O'Douls slogan "What beer drinkers drink .... when they're not drinking beer". Some claim it's marketing baseball and growing MLB's popularity. Maybe, but if bananarama ball is a person's entry point to baseball, how much are they going to enjoy the real thing? Yes, my lawn also needs to be kept off of... LOL.

Absolutely pathetic job by the lefties in this offense tonight.

Bryce was one for 15 in the series

Christopher Sanchez just last month vs. the Pirates, 10 more pitches and 7 more Ks. Doesn't change the fact a CGSO is still definitely a rarity these days.
