Maybe they are thinking of putting Yeli on the DH too. He's been horrible the last 30 games. Give him 2 weeks off to rest up. Vaughn can DH and that clears up some of the log jam at the moment.

Fischer is a talent for sure, but he's only got 16 games under his belt at the AA level. He's not ready yet.

There's only one way to know if that's true.  Pratt doesn't look ready either but development isn't limited to minor leagues.

Pratt also had more than 66 plate appearances above A ball. The Brewers are typically very smart about not setting these guys up to fail, and throwing Fischer to the wolves at this point would be very non-Brewer like.

If there’s no other moves and it’s just a Lara for Perkins swap, why didn’t they just do that a month ago? I don’t understand where Lara’s PT is coming from unless Sal’s getting benched. Chourio and Mitchell obviously not losing any PT rn

I'm curious what the plan is here. I'm not sure where the at bats are for Lara. I guess Chourio could DH against lefties... So Yeli loses at bats. That's fine.

But the outfield has been rolling as of late.. can't sit Mitchell and Sal has been really good.

Yea Sal has been perfectly good for the last month or so.  And Perkins has generally been adequate when playing vs lefties.   Not sure where the playing time comes from but we'll see.   I also haven't looked if there is a bunch of lefties the rest of the week or anything

Assuming with the double header and maybe some lefties before the break that this is more Lara getting a taste than a permanent move up, but I hope he makes it tough to be sent back down.

Lara is a switch hitter (or so it's listed on the 40-man), so that is a one for one swap with Perkins.

Me no likey having no subs (at least those who've ever played the position) available in the infield. ASB can't get here fast enough

I'm not sure on all the rules, but I could almost see a weird combination where they some how try and get Lara to be the extra player for the DH only and snag the extra pitcher until the break maybe? In any event I anticipate some additional creative roster shuffling

But I also like the notion of hiding an extra bat at 3rd during a Miz start. I seem to recall from a spray chart he does get relatively few balls hit that way overall.

Following his signing a long-term contract extension last month, Luis Lara has been called up to make his MLB debut.

The Brewers on Tuesday promoted Lara, Brewer Fanatic's No. 4 prospect, from Triple-A Nashville and sent center fielder Blake Perkins back to Triple-A. Lara will make his debut in Tuesday's doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers also called up left-handed starter Robert Gasser from Nashville as the extra player for the doubleheader.

Lara, a 21-year-old switch-hitting center fielder, a seven-year, $31 million extension on June 9. He was the second top prospect at the time to ink a long-term deal with the Brewers while still in the minors, joining shortstop Cooper Pratt. Pratt, who signed his deal in April, was promoted about a week after Lara got his deal finalized.

In his first season at Triple-A, Lara has had a breakthrough season offensively. He has a .321/.432/.470 slash line with career highs of nine homers and 42 RBIs in 78 games with still about half a season to play. Lara had never hit better than .286 (2023), hit more than four homers (2024) or driven in more than 41 runs (2024) before this year.

Lara won a minor-league Gold Glove last year for his defense in center field and also is a speed threat on the bases, having swiped 24 in 31 tries this year.

Perkins did not make the Brewers' Opening Day roster and has been called up twice, yet has not been able to get going offensively. Perkins has a slash line of .157/.250/.258 in 53 games with one homer, 11 RBIs and three stolen bases.

It truly amazes me how people think players can just go from even high A to MLB and have the same success they had in the minors. Like a guy has 28 HRs between A+ & AA so that means he'll get 28 HRs in MLB as a plug n play. 😂

Gasser is the "27th man". He'll have to go back down afterwards, per the rules. Plus, you can only keep 13 pitchers on a non-DH day, so, no room for creativity, anyway. I also don't think Gasser's minor league stay has been long enough to be recalled "normally" yet. Henderson likely comes up on Thursday, so let's use Rom and Stallings as much as we can before one of them is sent down.

Alternatively they were planning at being at the game and at least wanted Fischer's whiffs to help keep them cool

Could be another move or 2 coming we’ll see. Hamilton could still go on IL or Yelich could get a phantom IL stint til after the ASB since he’s been awful. Then maybe Chourio is primary DH for a bit and then all of Mitchell, Sal, Lara all still playing. But then Chourio DHing can cut into Vaughn’s PT. Bauers still needs to be playing every day. We’ll see if there’s any other changes soon.

I think one of Sal or Mitchell becomes trade bait - you dont bring a prospect up youve already signed to a longterm extension without having an idea he's a starter.

I'd give the Red Sox a call and see if they'd have interest in Sal + a prospect for Chapman

As much as I think Sal is just a guy I think that could kill the team chemistry.  For whatever that’s worth.

If they are planning on trying out Sal or Vaughn at 3B, now is a unique time to try with Hamilton banged up a bit, a double header today with no days off this week, and a spark plug waiting for outfield at bats.

That’s kind of uncalled for.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

They aren’t trading Mitchell and seriously doubt they will trade Sal in season.

Ps. Boy they really don’t want to add Jett to the 40 man yet……
