I'd like to bring up the 6th inning. We've all been aware of the RISP thing; the runner on 3rd w/less than two out thing. There was improvement there on Saturday. And today, with the 2nd & 3rd and no one out, despite failing to score I thought those were two damn good at-bats. So perhaps that worm is starting to turn.

Henderson, Drohan, and Gasser. And they swept, despite the three arms Miami threw out there. That might be the biggest story of the series. Gasser had the bad day in Pittsburgh, but other than that & his start on the moon vs the A's he's been a model of consistency since the beginning of June.

It also looks like, once again, the organization sees something in a guy (Shewmake) that maybe some others don't. Don't know if he'll stick around post-Hamilton but he's versatile & he had a pretty solid weekend.

I always enjoy your posts & perspective 🙌

Fun game. Weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Good crowd, into the game despite the Brewers a pretty pulseless team…until they weren’t.

Esteury Ruiz and Wild Bill, involved in that three-team trade, both hitting HRs.

and I caught a ball, had ice cream, good seats. The win made it great

And Gasser was in the same trade too 💪

the 2-0 chase by turang was impactful at the time and frustrating, but it's hard to blame him much for it.

It was a good breaking ball that started in the strike zone and for a split second i'm sure looked like a juicy fastball to Turang.

Hitting MLB pitching is tough, especially a stud like Perez. I don't blame Turang for that.

Luckily didn't matter in the end!

The issue was he was trying to pull it for damage. Murphy preaches letting the game come to you. Turang wasn't letting the game come to him there he was trying to make something happen in a scenario where that was completely not needed. If he's not trying to get out in front of that and pull it he probably can hold up and get the count to 3-0.

+1 except we were under the canopy in the 200 level.  Plenty of balls in front of us... and we had ice cream too!

Tim Dillard swung by as well.

The Cubs won but at least the Cardinals lost in the most brutal way possible (up 7-0 and gave up 8 unanswered).

Has anyone called Tony to see if the integrity of the game was still upheld when the Redbirds failed to protect the 7-run lead? Seems like a significant attack on the purity of baseball...

Those were a couple of quality pitches against Vaughn.

Yeah - but he struck out looking - When you are down in the 9th inning and the offense has been listless there is no excuse watching pitches go by like that.   Contreras doused out my fire shortly after though.

In my lifetime it was a normal thing for a woman to run out onto the field during games and kiss a random player on the lips. That seems wild now.

Maybe its the living in Arizona and working in Tempe but I don't find her attractive at all and I don't get the obsession over her.

One thing I miss in baseball these days is the simple 'see ball, hit ball' strategy w/two strikes. I'm sure it's more difficult these days though, when you can see a breaking ball around 90-91, a changeup in the low 80s or a FB at or over 100. I can see where you almost HAVE to guess. But it results in some of the takes for strike 3 that have plenty of the plate. Yeah, it can be frustrating.

I bet you also don’t think Hillary Swank is hot.

I just wanted to acknowledge Grant Anderson this morning and congratulate him on getting the vulture-style win. Seriously, he’s low-key valuable as a guy you can get some low leverage innings from (or maybe sneaky high leverage like yesterday keeping a one run deficit a one run deficit). I get that he’s not the first choice out there, but he generally does his job to eat some innings in specific scenarios.

he doesn't blow you away, but he doesn't give out many walks with a good defense behind him and he always seems composed

you need guys like that on a good team.  just do the job expected of you

Her 15 minutes was up a long time ago.
