Maybe not, but for an error no damage done. He’s a guy to eat innings as a mop up pitcher, what do folks expect?

McCullers needs to pitch better but what on earth is Bauers doing in the 9th inning up 6 runs trying to turn a double play like that throwing to a moving target. Just get the out at 1B. Game would have been over and Megill wouldn't have needed to come in if he just tossed the ball to McCullers and gotten the out at first.

I'm sure the "DFA-nicks" are out in full force regarding McCullers after this one. And they may be right. But this organization is largely about fixing pitchers, figuring stuff out, and I'm sure they'll try to do that. In fact they've probably BEEN doing it. If they can fix the command---really no one hit him hard at all. But if not, then obviously he ain't gonna help you.

Two in six frames for Gasser, and coulda been less. Well done. 

This was certainly a day for the young'uns. OTOH, I was wrong about Jake Bauers. Not nuts about him playing RF, largely due to the arm. But he certainly got a lot of air under the 40-ft throw in the ninth. Impressive.

Megill hadn’t pitched since Wednesday (and only 3 times in the last 14 days!). Good time to be a Brewers fan, if we’re complaining about the mop up man.

Yeah, having to go to him sucked, but it's not like he threw 3 times in the last four days. Having to use Megill was a major annoyance, fortunately nothing more.

I think some of the angst is those damn Cubs just sitting there in the rear-view mirror.   I think the Brewers should be up by 8 or 9 games right now.   And there sit the Cubs 6 games back.   Brewers just need to take care of their own business.

I've told the story a time or two on these boards, but it remains a good lesson for me whenever I interact with fans who have different priorities when watching the team. 

I was driving back from my brother's house the night the Bucks won the championship and I was listening to a local radio sports show. They were taking phone calls and some guy called in and (paraphrasing) said "we got lucky this time around, but if we have any interest in repeating next year, we really need add another shooter to help balance the scoring"..

I couldn't process his mindset. The Bucks had just done the impossible and he was calling in annoyed at how the roster was currently constructed because of a perceived flaw.

Some folks always need something to work on and if it isn't perfect then the focus is on what needs to be fixed rather than enjoying what has been going well..

Déjà vu all over again.

We were at the game tonight and it was almost  a replay of the game we went to last Saturday.

We often leave games early when they aren’t too close in part because one of my daughters has a 2 year old at home and doesn’t want to be gone too long. Plus I have to drive west to take her home and then come back to our house. One of my comments as we leave is “if they blow this one I don’t want to see it.”

So, both last Saturday and today we left after the 7th inning and the Brewers holding a 5 run lead. In both cases the last inning and a half dragged on and I was within a block of home by the time  Megill came in to finish up.

If I thought Levering irritated me on TV, he REALLY irritated me on the radio tonight.On TV I can try to ignore him or turn the sound off and watch the game. On the radio I want an announcer to tell me what’s happening in the game, not listen to a standup comedy routine talking about movies and doing impersonations and only mention what’s happening in the game after it’s happened.

Anyway, a good win and good games from Lara and Pratt.

The Brewers announcers outside of BA are all awful. Uecker was like a companion telling you about the game. The guys now are all broadcasting majors from college too self aware and trying too hard  to drop pop culture references and be funny. I think Dillard is a bozo too, but he could have potential if he toned it down 

I only wish  they’d fire the lot of them and start over (let BA do his half season hybrid thing).
