Murphy just said, “that left handed kid they brought in, I don’t know who that was, but he was really good”.  Isn’t it his job to know?  I get interleague probably has far less scouting reports but still not a great look to say that in the post game presser.

Dude has to spend hours deciding whether to hit Yelich leadoff or cleanup.  He doesn't have time to know any other players.

Drohan?  I know hes wasnt rated in the top 100.  But he was a 27 year old prospect the Brewers looks like they coveted.

I'd take Drohan over Ryan 100 times out of 100.  Ryan had a handful of good starts with the dodgers back in 2024, blew his elbow out, and now has made less than 10 starts in AAA with a 1.3 WHIP and mid 4's ERA as an almost 28 yr old.

He's still a prospect because he didnt exhaust his rookie eligibility back in 2024 ....the fact he's still a top 100 is only because he was in the Dodger organization

It's part of his schtick.  He often acts like he doesn't know players names, or who they are, but I sincerely hope that is an act.

Brewers just overtook the dodgers for best record in baseball yet it feels like a punch to the gut

You really think he knows/or should know  every player in MLB?  Give me a break

To be fair I had the same reaction at the game

That the Brewers are currently playing, yes. He also does know no matter what he says.

Bench Chourio he's mentally done

That is insaine but I do think he needs a day off.  He is hitting right now at his career avg of .273   But slumpung since July 5th, his 2026 peak of .297.

He knows them all by face crystal clear.

It’s baseball, every player slumps. The game threads are littered with bench so and so. It’s just some posters dramatic overreaction. I did notice one thing, Chourio closed his stance ever so slightly last night. It looked more similar to previous years. This will hopefully allow him to go to opposite field more and not roll over as much as he has been.

Brandon Lockridge recently completed a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville Sounds before being reinstated from the injured list by the Milwaukee Brewers on August 1, 2026.

Wonder if he is in CA right now? He probably is.

Going to give the benefit of the doubt here and assume this is sarcasm, because yes, he knows. It is part of his full-time job.

That doesn’t mean he has the stat sheets of all 780 MLB 26 man rostered players memorized, but there’s no surprises at this level. He has coaching staff and scouts helping him and would already know about his pitch mix, velocity, splits, etc, before he even came into the game.

No MLB manager in 2026 is sincerely saying “wow, that Natera kid was nasty, I wonder who that was.” He knows.

Since he played for the Brewers last night, I would imagine so.  He PH and struck out for Vaughn.

Right, my point was “knows” varies.  The jersey numbers of the lefties in the opponents bullpen and what they throw, of course he knows. And what information is on the advance reports they get, but the names of all the players on every team in the major leagues, probably not.
