Brewers will be going for a postseason record 9-game winning streak and be the first team to ever to sweep both the LCS and World Series.

In the regular season, the Brewers never won more than 5 games in a row.

Lack of a big winning streak during the season only says to me that they were the best from beginning to end. Not buoyed by some anomaly that inflated their record. They were the best team, and as far as not being built for October due to a lack of stars, we can put that to bed now.

Treego, I hope wherever you are in the world amidst your MLB boycott you are finding a space to enjoy all that this season has been. I say that sincerely, this one's for you:

Only a Griffin remains, between this team and its' fate.
A dream once unbelievable, is now just 9 innings away.
The boys seem bulletproof, albeit some help from our Ueck.
A historic run through this gauntlet of baseball's 'who's who'.
Let's make tonight forever famous, it's time we get our damn parade.
On Wisconsin! On Milwaukee! Let's go win it our way.

Feels like a Drohan-May or May-Drohan situation.

You've got Hall-Romero-Ashby available for at least 4 if you need it, not to mention Megill.

May should start to mitigate the RH bats. He has pitched better than his results (other than San Diego) and got some heavy ground balls last time.

I know…I know…

Also be my research:

Winning it all with a single HR helping the cause would be the first time since 1946. The 2015 Royals we get compared to a lot managed to hit 2. So while we flexed unusual HR power in the first two rounds, our lack of power may still provide some historical significance in the end.

Good point, and I think it is accurate to say it that way rather than they got hot at the right time. They  have been hot pretty much all year. At the moment, the biggest moment... they are consistently playing their best baseball for this stretch of games

Seriously, that is why he hasn't been around?  He's boycotting MLB?  What a bad season to make that decision...

I haven't talked to him so I can't be for certain, I just remember his last few posts in the off season or early season he was saying it is a rigged system and he couldn't support it anymore or something. Posted a bunch of links to some petitions or something like that. Haven't heard from him since. I agree if he is protesting it is such an unfortunate season to pick...

I’d be fine with hitting five or six homers tonight though

Can’t it be both? All those years where the Brewers were knocked out by teams that were hot in the playoffs (Cardinals in ‘11, Nationals on ‘19, Braves in ‘21, Arizona in ‘23), like those teams the Brewers have played even better than in the regular season. I dogged Sal Frelick and he had a bad season but he’s been nails in the post season. Somebody had a front page article this season dogging Contreras for having a down year and he’s been a monster in the post season, Yelich too, and the list goes on and on.

They’re a good squad to begin with and will get the monkey off their back because they’ve got hit at the right time and fonally caught a few lucky breaks along the way in the playoffs offs.

I wonder if the computer models will still project us for 82 wins next year now?

(plot twist: they do, but it’s 82-60) 😬

Yah, just to clarify, I wasn’t trying to say that in some negative way. It’s a 103 win team, that got the hottest they have been all year in the postseason…which has turned them into a 147 win team.

My dad started boycotting the NFL in 2018-19. Lifelong Chiefs fan, grew up in the KC area. I think he finally tuned into the Super Bowl, but I can’t imagine missing the entire run and not knowing the team etc. Shake my head to this day.

I can't shake the idea that Murphy is gonna pull a Lou Brown and throw Kyle Harrison in as the starter.

When the regular season ended I said "All this team does is win ballgames, they've done it all year, what's 11 more?" And now we just need one. They're smothering the Rays, playing some of the best most complete baseball I've ever seen. Tonight could be special.

Sure, it can be both. There are individuals who got hot at the right time. Others maybe not so much. Collectively as a unit, I think they are playing their best baseball. But this is all nitpicking and subjective in the very best scenario possible - we win either way!

I didn't take it in any way negative. Just thought it was an astute way you portrayed it.

I think it makes sense, use your low IP arms in Harrison and May, try to get a lead and if you do close out with the BP.  If Tampa gets a solid lead instead, save those arms for tomorrow behind The Miz, and ride out with the drohan and others

Seems like the thing Murph will do.  I would also expect him to go to the high leverage pen guys unless it gets way out of control early.
