One of the more exciting parts of this team is that most of the team we will have for several years and we still have several guys coming up that look like impact players.

Joey Ortiz had a nice rebound the second half of 2026 before flopping in the playoffs.  Hamilton was the opposite.  Both players are probably better set as your backup infielders.

So given the Brewer's history of handling young stars... Jesus Made is exactly at the point of his career that Jackson Chourio, Cooper Pratt, and Luis Lara signed their historic extensions.  And I think we saw how that worked out pretty well for the Brewers this year.

Does Jesus Made become the next name on that list? Is he destined to become our starting 3B next year?

I would guess those answers are an easy "yes"...if it weren't for the potential lockout over the CBA.  It will be interesting to see how the Brewers approach this.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Absolutely try very hard to make this happen. Offer him the OD 3rd base job if it gets him to sign.

I can't help but think does he fit into this culture? I know nothing about him other than his stats but at this point we have a little bit of the luxury to think beyond skills.

It's an EASY yes as far as doing it... it's going to take a big chunk of the additional revenue from the WS(without assuming FURTHER revenue from the CBA or the expansion franchises) to get it done though.

You're nto getting him for 8/82 or whatever.

I think you're looking at 9/150 with 1 TO at 35 or so.
I've heard it just speculated that he's not going to sign. He knows how good he is, he knows he can be in line for that POTENTIALLY record setting deal at age 25 or 26 if he's the player we think he is.

So I'd include a 15M signing bonus, maybe 20M. Give him that chunk NOW, that may entice him. And even at that point, the kid is 19. You wouldn't be signing him through 32, he'd have time to get that big contract AFTER this one ended.

Extensions would be 100% how I'd try to operate at this point.

I don't want to go off-topic here, but Kyle Harrison. Now's the time to strike. I don't think you'll get him cheap and I saw enough this year, he seemed to hit a wall, but came back with his velo back hitting 98... I'd go after him. Something like 7/45 2 TOs. Probably says no, but, that's alright.

Mis, I'm going to Mis with 7 years 130M +2 TOs with elevator clauses. A 2nd Cy Young increases the yearly value by 5M or... I don't know, something like that. I'm tired so it's not fully fleshed out, but TRY and get Mis done.

I WANT to say sign Contreras right now, but... I wouldn't. 30-34 aren't the type of deals that have worked out. Yelich kinda did because we... won the WS, but just his contract? I think we could have gotten that onfield production obviously cheaper. I get he's a great guy, but so is Contreras. He adds an edge. I don't know if that's enough to go 4/80 on top of the ~14M he should make this year.

Turang-Ship has probably sailed, but 6/140+1 TO at 32 makes sense there.

Man, I don't know who else. I'd be calling for a 8 year 90M 2TO extension for Pratt, but we already got that one done!
Maybe DL Hall, 5 years 30M?

But Made is #1, #2, #3 and #4 on the priority list. A future with Chourio, Turang, Lara, Pratt, Made, Payne, and thee young arms... man, last night was a blast... today is a blast! Lets find a way to get back!

He's a switch hitting prospect who compares favorably to Jose Ramirez at AA, but he's probably got a higher ceiling(not that he'll hit it, but... it's high).

What part of would you think wouldn't fit into the culture? He plays hard, he plays smart, he takes pitches, doesn't chase...

And he may be the best prospect we've EVER had. I think he fits.

Well... I don't know him beyond a player either.... AND I honestly wasn't trying to be... short or dismissive or rude, I'm asking if you're referencing anything.

But I'm just... struggling to see how the BEST prospect we've ever developed would not make the team better.

Even if he's Jeff Kent or whoever, I'm taking him on my team. He's also a kid right now, so lets say there wasn't something you'd heard negatively, I'd have enough faith in the franchise and leadership getting him right.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what we're looking for. If "hard worker" is enough... he seems like he's that, but I don't even know that. I know he plays hard. Does he spend as much time taking GBs or working on his swing? Can't say.

I doubt they sign him before the lockout is over. Partially because it makes little sense to sign a guy before you know what the economic landscape is going to be. Mostly because signing him would force them to put him on the 40 man roster. Anyone on the 40 man can't play during a lockout. Why would they interrupt his development timeline for no reason? I have little doubt they're talking about parameters of a deal but they're not going to actually make a deal until the future of the game is settled.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I agree, but for very different reasons.

There have been rumors that they're going to change the service time, maybe make it 5 years in exchange for ...whatever.

I think if you're the Brewers, you sign him ASAP.
I think Jesus Made is the one who is going to want to wait.

Fair point. The unknown goes both ways. Which makes a deal even less likely.

Yeah... BUT, on the bright side, if MLB is giving up a year of service time, revenue will be shared substantially more and there will be some type of cap and floor.

I wonder if that's why Pratt and Lara were done this year?

Pratt looks SO good right now. Not just because of his games, his swing is so nice. He covers the outside but can pull his hands in and turnon it...

Yes, this is the one you prioritize above everything else with the bonus postseason revenue. Moreso than Contreras or Turang who are pushing 30.

You get Chourio and Made locked up together, and you've got yourself a window so wide open you can drive a bus through it....

At least under current rules, we would already control Made through Chourio’s entire contract…I think just one year short.

I’m actually surprised we locked up multiple guys to these contracts before this year. Team control could wildly change here soon. I don’t think we can even theorize how we could do these contracts now until that is ironed out. It may make less sense for us to do it for all we know.

I dont know that it takes $150M to get a Made deal done. Maybe, but thats a big gamble for someone who hasnt play MLB game yet to walk away with nothing.

I agree we need to put the full press on for him. The thing is, between Ortiz, Hamilton, Williams and Adams, Brewers can make him wait to take a more adventageous year later. No rush unless he signs, and that is also big money left on the table for him.

The last two comparable deals for a potential Made extension would be McGonigle (8/$150M) and Griffin (9/$140M) signed in April of this year.

Since Lara and Pratty already got theirs, safe to figure Made was also offered. Maybe he just declined. If the Dodgers are going to be paying free agents $60m, turning down $15m to hit free agency sooner is understandable. Although even if it's got to be $17m per, maybe that's still a decent buy especially on the chance that maximum-length contracts are put into the CBA. I think it'll take a hefty offer. And what are the chances players hit FA a year sooner in the next deal?

Possibly, but Lara, Chourio and Pratt were each at AAA and knocking when the extension came, and it was quickly after that they were promoted. The Brewers arent as desperate to fill a hole on the team right now with Made. They can afford to wait him out.

I would be patient if Made is looking to break a pre debut extension record.  Made is an incredible talent but both those guys are/were better prospects imo.  I mean Griffin may be the best position player prospect since Mike Trout.

Don't think we have to do the extension with every young guy.  Probably not a bad idea to have guys without generational wealth and a chip on their shoulder going forward.
