Tweets say several teams in on Yelich, so Indians might be too.

We probably want major league pieces for Santana whereas Marlins want prospects so maybe Indians and Marlins don't match up. Also acquisition cost of Santana is probably lower than Yelich.

No no no, the Indians are not in on Yelich...unless their goal is to acquire all the talented LH outfielders in the league.

Help me out here... Why dont the Indians just trade for Yelich, and leave us out of it? If we want Yelich more than Santana, why dont they want Yelich more than Santana?

I think Cleveland is already so LH dominant in their lineup that Yelich wouldn't be the greatest fit for what they're looking for. Santana would be lower prospect cost and they're really looking for RH bats.

Indians are already very lefhanded

Why are all these stories suddenly breaking (Darvish, Yelich), when the Brewers have been quiet all offseason? I suspect these are decoys leaked to the press for leverage in the real "Trade A" (which likely involves an AL team per HighHeat)

Thought HH said trade A is no longer happening?

Has there ever been a Bfan thread that brought in so many new members? Welcome.

I think it’s due to the power of Twitter.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

@BrewersWorld

My ears are ringing because the Brewers have been "Yelling" down to Miami about trading for an OF.

This guy had the leak 5 days ago. He broke the Lucroy news, twice.

High Heat... Any comment on Yelich from your source?

No. This is news to me. But not surprising as my source said they were changing directions after A. was nixed.

More belief it was Ellsbury for A. And now Yelich. This would tell me that an outfielder is going somewhere. Prolly Santana. If Yelich falls through. Then maybe Cain. Once a centerfielder is obtained. Santana or Brinson would be on their way. Brewers want to make sure they have their CF before than move to the next phase. All speculation on my part here.

What is the infatuation with shaking up the OF so much? Santana basically did great last year and you have him for years. Braun is set in left. Your top two prospects can split CF and are considered good defenders, while getting extra ABs when Braun sits and hits the DL. Seems like it should be the least of their worries to me.

It IS the least of their worries. But it's the only avenue we have to cost-effective starting pitching. Unless we ante-up.

Diversification of the offense. Yelich doesn't strike out as much. Has a consistently high average and high OBP. Brewers trying to cut down on the Ks that led to so many prolonged offensive slumps.

Yelich would be a huge upgrade over Santana imo, who may have just had his career year. His strikeout rate is troubling and he's a bit of a defensive liability, couldn't hurt to move him for pitching if you can upgrade to a pure hitter like Yelich first.

Yes and no, I sort of agree with you. Then again, look at who they have, and who's on the way. All RH except Phillips, who is not a sure thing. So that's reason A to shake things up. Reason B is defense. Santana is a butcher out there. In a perfect world, they could move him to 1B but I'm guessing they thought of that long before I have, so I'm guessing they know he can't play there.

Gotta think that the brewers view Santana’s defense as a bigger problem than most of us do. Also, given the names we see them connected to—yelich, Cain, Ellsbury—perhaps they see a value in batting average in an era when hrs are easy to find
