2019 BREWERS OPTIMISM THREAD

“The history of 1-6 starts is incredibly ignominious. Over the last 35 years, 68 teams have started 1-6 or worse. Twelve of them finished over .500. Only three made the playoffs.“

We sweep the cubs and history would show they won’t make playoffs. I can dig!

I think the Brewers will go through the Cubs' bullpen like a shark in a swimming pool

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

In the Cubs defense, they did just sign David Bote to a five-year extension.

Is this supposed to be in blue? .

yes

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

A sweep of the Cubs will put them 7.5 back on April 7th.

Pressure has to be building on the Cubs to stop the bleeding, golden opportunity to kick them while they are down.

I would argue NO TEAM will improve as much as this team over the course of the full season. From the improvement or our young guns as they gain experience, to bullpen reinforcements, trade deadline acquisitions, even moose at turning two. Wow this team gonna be awful tough to beat later in the year.

Brewer pitchers lead the NL in K's with 91. The gap between them and the #2 team(Mets with 74) is the same as the gap between #2 and #15.

Gap is going to increase with burns pitching tonight!

And possibly Hader too!

Three series into the season and three series wins. Two over our division foes. [sarcasm]Amazing what this bunch of rag tag players are accomplishing.[/sarcasm]
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I’ll be honest, I was fully preparing for March and April to be disappointing based on the tough schedule. The fact that they have taken 8 out of 10 from division rivals to start the season is really, really encouraging.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Yeah, with several more series coming imminently against the Dodgers, Cardinals, and Cubs, I am ecstatic that the Crew has already banked eight wins. Helps smooth what will certainly be tougher times ahead.

EDIT: Sorry, since this is the optimism thread... The Crew’s .800 winning percentage is definitely sustainable for the next month of this difficult schedule!

8-2 with a +2 run differential. Optimistically, if you are going to lose, lose big so you don't use Hader and (whoever develops into the second best reliever) on those days.

If the Brewers don't win the division I should be banned. However, they will.

Everyone was concerned about the tough schedule, but to be honest we get it at the best possible time you could imagine. The start of the season teams are a mess and usually teams start off sluggish. The fact we have started of strong is a double bonus leading to an incredible record to start. I don't want a tough schedule come August and September. That is when a tough schedule is usually exactly that...tough. Hard to do anything, but earn those wins then. In April/May you can get gifted a lot that won't be happening in the later months when everyone settles in.

Maybe this is just a bunch of cliches, but when I see them play they just impress the heck out of me with their team approach, the never say die attitude, the manager’s willingness to try what ever it takes, the one game at a time mentality. These guys are just a bunch of fun. Let’s keep it brewing!
