My son who just completed his grad work at the University of Montana, just got his first real job in the same state.  He absolutely loves it there, so this was good news.  (Not that I like him being that far away, but it is what it is.  It's a beautiful state, so even though we've already been there twice, I'm sure there are a few more trips to follow)

It wouldn't involve thousands of acres and horses, would it?  😁

I would like to get to Montana some time.  Big open country is the way to go.

Western Montana and Northern Idaho is the most beautiful area of the country I've ever been to not including Alaska. So I guess that means second-most. Or Alaska doesn't count.

Alaska counts and all, but I definitely can understand considering it a different animal altogether.  I mean, it's got 2.5X the area of Texas, and more coastline than the rest of the country combined.

Agree with you on western MT, it's spectacular.  And if you cross the border from there, it keeps getting better up in the Canadian Rockies.

Brewers sent out Season Seat Holder Rewards and somehow my 5th year as a 20-gamer I have gotten AmFam batting practice.

I haven’t ever heard of anyone actually getting it and everyone I know has always assumed corporate accounts that started in the 70s always perpetually get it since rewards get based off tenure.

My company just won some work for a client that has facilities located in this part of the country, and I can't wait to time the work to ideal trout fishing times the next few years!

We explored the area a few summers ago as part of a trip hitting up a bunch of national parks, and I caught myself looking for any for sale signs I could find nearby - my kind of spot to retire to.

I went backpacking in the Sawtooths to see the last solar eclipse and it was absolutely incredible. I need to come up with another excuse to get out there again. I haven't done anything in Montana except drive through it.

If that area is your cup of tea, I recommend visiting Bend, Oregon + vicinity as well.

There's a little area around the northern border of BC which has the second-best abundance of animals after the Savannah. We got to see Dall sheep, buffalo in the road, almost hit a moose, and saw a "golden bear" which we were told is a cross between black bear and grizzly.

My view for two months, Lake Lebarge, specifically:

Had to cancel my first Farmer's Market tomorrow due to expected rain at noon. They're still having it, but I don't feel like spending $50 on set-up and seven hours of labor to hope people buy hot dogs at 9am. Still not too much bugging me because I had a great day on Wednesday when all the construction workers found me. Ran out of chili and sauerkraut so I closed down an hour early and still broke my profit high by $10. Although I felt guilty when one guy I turned away said "But you said you'd be open until 2."

I'm guessing the area with all the animals you're referring to is that stretch between Muncho Lake and Liard Hot Springs?  There's always a ton of bison along the road every time I pass through there, not to mention all the other wildlife you're apt to see.

That had to have been it. I remember it was a little before the Sign Forest, and that area is right before. That's what a local told us about the area, anyway.

Do you really drive when you're going to the Lower 48 instead of fly? That's a heck of a haul.

Sign forest is Watson Lake so yep that tracks. I fly at Christmas and sometimes in summer but my preference is to drive it. It’s a haul but I like the road and the scenery. Plus the town I’m in is sort of a landlocked island so when I get the chance I’m always ready to watch the windshield.

Someone I employed as a grad student (going on 20 years ago) won an award at her current library.  The reception for it was yesterday and was held just down the street so I stopped by.  She gave me a shoutout in her remarks.  It felt nice.

I get groceries at Mariano's, which is under the Kroger umbrella.  Kroger just came out with their brand of no-sugar-added yogurt... and it's phenomenal.  Key Lime, Cinnamon Roll, and White Chocolate Raspberry are the ones I've had so far and they're the best tasting yogurts I've ever had.  And they're selling them for $0.60/each.

I'd love to live in Bozemon, MT or Coeur d'Alene, ID or anywhere between.  Beautiful country.  My grandparents moved to Port Hill, ID when I was young and we visited several times.  Glacier > Yellowstone.

Agree!  If anyone hasn't been to Glacier, do it!

I used to work 80-100 hour weeks every summer. I stopped doing that now and am only at 40-50. It feels like I am barely working and is awesome.

It's July 15th and the Yankees and Red Sox are tied for last place in the AL East.

Can't complain about the top or bottom of the NL Central either...

Also, past the halfway point and the offseason champ megaspenders of SD and NYM are still firmly below .500.    I'm generally not one of those on here who rant or hate on this, but it's still good to see.   OTOH, for those who spend their time complaining how cheap MKE is and how we should be like them maybe it's not great to see though...
