There’s a “magic” number of a team’s wins and opponents’ losses that combine to clinch that team’s playoff spot or division championship.  Is there a corresponding not-so-magic number (“muggle” number? sorry H Potter fans) of a team’s losses and opponents’ wins that combine to eliminate that team from playoff contention?  I’m starting to fear that the Brewers have such a muggle number lurking around the corner.  Do we perhaps have a magic number?  I’m lousy and lazy at math.

MLB.com, go to standings, click on wild card tab.  There's an elimination number that is for WC/playoffs.

Chase Anderson hasn't been above replacement level for 3 years and he pitches with his right hand.  No reason this offense should struggle tonight.

I could easily see them scoring 3, maybe 4 runs.

Is the Yelich in the 3 hole experiment over?

Really wish Hiura was hitting against Anderson tonight.  Oh I forgot, he isn't supposed to be able to hit righties.  My bad. (blue)

I just don't get how guys like Anderson and Chi Chi Gonzalez keep getting chances from multiple organizations year after year when they keep proving they can't pitch any longer.

Effective MLB pitching is a scarce resource....

Can confirm Bally's feed issues is not just a problem in MKE market. Currently in Nashville watching Reds' Bally's broadcast and its almost constantly choppy and distorted, it's not even watchable. All other channels on this cable service are fine.

While it isn't easy, I'm not sure the Reds were looking for effective pitching to finish out another losing season.  They just wanted a body and that's what Chase gives them.  Not sure they wanted to have any more prospects use up service time if they don't have to.

I get that but those two guys have ERAs around 7 over the last 3 years. Hard to believe organizations don't have at least a Jason Alexander wallowing in their farm systems they could kick the tires on instead. Hard to believe they would be any worse.

Although pitching against the Brewers can make most anyone look viable.

Brewers already have their quota of 2 runs but they should be good for 4 more hits.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Lineup kinda ok. A couple of HR's, but lots of K's.

Is that your attempt at a rhyme.
