Uh... why is this Aaron Rodgers stuff in the Packer thread? 😝

Because it has a significant impact on our draft class for 2024.

In 1991 the Bears had the #22 overall pick.  They drafted Stan Thomas, OT, Texas.  He started seven games in his career.  Eleven picks later, the Atlanta Falcons drafted Brett Favre.

In 2005 the Bears had the #4 overall pick.  They drafted Cedric Benson, RB, Texas.  He lasted three season there before being released.  Twenty picks later, the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers.

In 2020 the Bears had the #19 overall pick, but they traded it to the Raiders for Khalil Mack.  Seven picks later, the Packers drafted Jordan Love.

Meanwhile, during that time the Bears drafted Will Furrer, Cade McNown, Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, Mitch Trubisky, and Justin Fields in the top four rounds.

The Bears had a chance to draft all three of them.

Yeah, I'm guessing he was kidding as there's obviously a huge correlation between the Packers and Rodgers.

This impacts the Packers in SOOO many ways, both quantifiable and in ways you can't quantify.

Worst case scenario for Green Bay for Jets draft compensation in Week 1, Rodgers injured and the Jets still win.

Only could watch the last 15 minutes. How much of it was the Bills playing like dog doo and how much the Jets being dominant on defense?

By the look of it, the Bills ain't all that either this season...Allen played awful against a good but not that kinda good Jets D, but holy cow that is a painful loss for Buffalo.  Allen made some terrible throws into coverage to keep the game close in the 2nd half, then Wilson made a great catch in the end zone.  I think all 4 of Allen's turnovers (3INTs and 1 fumbled snap) had nothing to do with the defense forcing them.

Guessing results of further testing (which has probably already been done and the Jets know it internally), is going to be a sucker punch for Jets fans tomorrow morning after hearing the initial word that xrays were negative (for a broken ankle).  Watching the replay, there's no ankle roll associated with a sprain/dislocation, but it definitely looks like a tendon (Achilles or other) gave way on that left leg.

Saw a post from Bakhtiari blaming the NFL for another player injured on artificial turf...I get that it's his best buddy, but that type of injury happens on all kinds of playing surfaces with a near 40 yr old getting that kind of weight applied to a leg he's trying to push away from a defender at just the wrong time.

I absolutely agree with Bakh on this topic and the NFL should get rid of the artificial stuff, but this was a bad example why. This wasn't a non contact injury.

Jets coach Robert Saleh believes that Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon which should be confirmed by a MRI on today. If torn, Rodgers most likely will be lost to the Jets the entire season. This will make the Packers trade compensation a second round pick in the 2024 NFL draft rather than the upgraded first round pick, as Rodgers would no longer be able to play 65% of the Jets offensive snaps this year.

Consolation is that it may be a high 2nd pick instead of a low 1st pick.

Another way to look at it is the Jets gave up a 2nd round pick for three snaps worth of a QB

I mean it sucks, I wanted that 1st bad, so to end up not getting that for Rodgers, sucks, and of course that's just the business side of it and secondary to the health of the player.

But to be clear, it obviously sucks worse for the Jets, and getting a pair of 2nds for a 39 year old (if) he only ends up playing a few snaps for his new team is obviously not the worst deal in the world for us.

Now we can at least just root for the Jets to suck free and clear. Wish they had lost last night.

I couldn't care less about the pick to be honest. If Love is a decent player I will just thank the Gods and take what we get.

But if we are discussing the pick, this is probably the worst scenario because the Jets won't suck even without him, they will probably win 9-11 games so my guess is that we probably went from something like 26th overall to 50th.

I am not saying there is zero chance they win 9+ games with Zach Wilson but I would also be willing to bet a large sum of money that they will not. I think 11 wins was probably their ceiling even with Rodgers.

They have a great defense and have great WR's and RBS, i think they are a middling team without Rodgers. If they had somewhat respectable o-line I think they could have been fine without him.

I'm not saying a 2nd is as good as a 1st, but if they get say 45 instead of 28, there is still a good chance of getting an impactful player.

Yes. But also, for ALL the massive amount of 'it' talked about the Packers FO this WHOLE offseason and how they were poorly run, and all the fans who were pissed...this kinda validates their decision to go with the 24 year old QB over the 39 year old QB who was consistently waffling about how long he wanted to play.

I do think he'll come back from this(at least rehab and try and make it back next year)...but they moved up in the 1st round(and lost what I think was going to be Broderick Jones) and gave up two 2nds. So yeah, we're definitely hurt by it.

Not nearly as bad as the Jets or Bears, two fan bases that...at least in the Twitter bubble just relentlessly ran their mouths since the trade was first brought up.

With their schedule I thought the Jets would be fortunate to win 9-11 games with a healthy Rodgers and their really good defense.  Without him they're not finishing over 0.500 despite Buffalo laying an egg and gifting them a win in Week 1.  I can easily see them being 1-7 or 2-6 by the time mid-November rolls around.

I don't see it. Their defense is extremely good. They are imo an 8-9 floor with potential to do more if Wilson can not lose the ball constantly. Skill group is pretty good. Obviously QB is not great and OL is the other meh, but we will see.

But Wilson does lose the ball consistently.  They've got Dallas, KC, Philly, and Chargers mixed in with New England, Denver, and the Giants over their next 7 games...will their defense find a way to win a couple of those games over the next 2 months?  Probably, but I doubt all of those quarterbacks lay an egg the way Josh Allen did last night and gift the team 4 turnovers to give the Jets a shot to win a game with a punt return in Overtime.

If they are 8-9 floor with Zach Wilson then they were a 15 win floor with Rodgers.

Torn ACL, out for the year. I know you never want a player to get hurt. I know he has done so much for Packer organization. But all of the hype, hard knocks and they got 4 plays out of it. IF Rodgers was really leaning towards retirement and the Packers still got a pick swap, a 6th and 2 2nds, thats pretty good. Devasting for the Jets to give up that much draft capital and cap space and they got nothing out of it.

Idk why people are acting like went 4-13 last year.  That was a really young team that started 7-4 and then sputtered. Even without adding Rodgers it is likely they take a leap this season anyway just because of how talented and young the team is.

That said, yeah, I expected them to be in the AFCCG with Rodgers. I think they have a large variance of wins. Wilson totally sucks it's not crazy to see them go 6-11. I think they are too good defensively to be that bad. I won't be surprise at all if they are a low-seed playoff team without Rodgers.
